Do you know anyone who is constantly broke?

ya, I am doing alright, hopefully I become a manager in a year or two and then I am going to get my degree in finance from UIC (one of the best finance/business programs in the country)

my goal is 50-60 K by the time I am 24 years old whether it is working as a manager for GNC or another career in finance, and then just keep climbing that ladder from there on.

If I am not making 100 - 150 K by the time I am 30, I will be very dissappointed.

Petty high expectations, but hey never hurts to aim high.

if you knew my intelligence, my work ethic and my determination, you would realize those are perfectly reasonable expectations. I will do absolutely everything I have to do to reach my goals

15% of people in this country (US) make 100+ k a year, take away the lower class (uneducated people, minorities with no real opportunities, etc...), those numbers are much higher.

I will get my bachelor's degree at UIC ( an excellent college) then possibly get my master's degree, then just take it from there.

alot of times getting a good job is about knowing someone or being in the right place or the right time. but if your determined it shouldnt be too much of a problem.

You just really don't have a clue do you?

uh I don't have a clue of what? I am going to become a manager at GNC in a 1-3 years (I am working with one of the best managers in the region, he's made 2 or 3 of his trainees managers in around or less than 2 years). That right there is 30-40 K a year, meanwhile I get my bachelors degree in finance/business management (or similar degree, we'll see).

that's all I am concerned with right now, after that point I will look for a high paying career in either finance or management (or a similar field). I may also get my masters degree, we shall see.

taking everything step by step to ensure 100% success.

Jesus Christ, why the fuck are you bragging about going to get a Master's degree and managing a fucking GNC on a metal forum? Nobody fucking cares and you look like a douche trying to one-up everybody by bragging. You have a sick fucking inferiority complex don't you? You must in order to respond to an argument by bragging further.

we're talking career/future/etc... here, if you are not interesting in that discussion, I suggest you stay the fuck out

I am not bragging about shit, I am tired of dickheads doubting me. What idiots like amarantus have to comprehend is that I simply never fail at anything.

You fail at message boards, for one.

you fail at life

edit: J/k, I apologize for some of my statements in this thread however. They came off extremely arrogant and that's not what I intended. I am just very confident and I am going to do every single thing that I have to in order to ensure success. Let's just leave it and end this dumb argument.

Sounds like a good goal to have. A manager of a store is a respectable job, I guess. But there's one problem. How is this going to be possible?

The idea of you making 30-40k as a manager of a store like that, is a stretch, to put it mildly. Because if you hadn't done your math, or even asked him what the hell managers make (which you haven't), you'd realize that making 30k a year, based on a standard 40 hour work week would be roughly $14/hr. Which is alright. But there's a problem here. You want to go to school full-time, and work a full-time job. Sorry bud, but that's a physical impossibility. Crushing your dreams as being an uber pimp GNC manager making 30+k a year. Because all of my figures are based on a FOURTY HOUR WEEK. Most college kids, including myself, find it hard enough to even work 20 hours a week, which is half that since you have a problem with math. Now as I calculate what you could be making a year with the same salary, but half the hours, you would be making roughly...$14,500/yr. Boy, that sure is a big difference.

The only thing you should worry about, is getting your head out of your ass, and continue going to school and trying to get the best grades you can, and worry about how much money you will (not) be making in the future.

Dumbass.

Why are people busting this kid's balls for having dreams and aspirations? Instead of wasting your time trying to break his will, follow in his steps and find some inspiration of your own.

It doesn't cost a dime to dream.

I think if people realized how much every job they have is like their resume for the next job and took it seriously and took pride in their work, even if it seems to suck, a lot more people would be doing much better.

Go for it dude. But I would advise to be of the mind that things don't always go as planned. It may take longer or less long, but keep doing what's right and moving forward as you can. Also keep in mind that being decent is more important than financial gain.

:headbang:

You obviously don't know this guy, or haven't been around him that long. This guy is so full of shit, he makes George Bush look like a Saint.

Where the fuck did your idea that monetary success is an amicable goal come from? I'd much rather be happy than rich. You are going after a boring, menial career because of the money? Are you fucking stupid? I can guarantee you that I will be happier being an underpaid teacher than you will be as an overpaid manager or whateverthefuck you get with your education. I'll have a much easier time finding a job, too. :D

see this is where you are fucking wrong in every way imagineable

during the last spring session, I took 5 classes, worked 30 hours a week, AND STILL FOUND TIME TO HIT THE GYM WITH INCREDIBLE INTENSITY FOR 6-10 HOURS A WEEK

I am going to take 4-5 classes (receive 3.5+ GPA BTW), work 30 - 40 hours a week, and still continue to bodybuild, it's not that hard at all

after sleep (7 hours a week), you have 119 hours a week. My current job is extremely close to my house and with everything considered, I am going to spend about 35 - 45 hours a week (getting ready for job, lunch etc...). I am going to take 4-5 classes and get very good grades (will take up about 25-30 hours of my week), and still bodybuild (takes 6-10 hours of my week)

119 - 40 - 25 - 10 = I still have 44 hours of free time during a week

trust me it is VERY possible to work 40 hours a week and still do full time college and very good grades. You appear to be mentally weak, I am not.

edit: you're a fucking moron if you think my manager makes 14 dollars an hour. I MAKE 10-12 an hour, he easily makes 18 - 30 an hour. 35 - 40 hours at that rate and you are making around 40 - 50 k a year actually
