Good fucking Christ! A good chum of mine who has a decent job, never seems to have two damn shekels to rub together. He got paid just yesterday, so figuring he'd be up to go out with some mates and grab some grub later on tonight, I give him a jingle.

Me: Hey man, would you like to go grab some sushi tonight?
Him: Nah man I can't, I'm broke, I only have a 100 dollars to my name.

How the fuck can you live for 2 weeks on a hundred dollars?!? The answer is You Cant. Which is why he usually has to crash at my pad to save on gas money. Which is why I feel compelled to buy him lunch to spare him the hunger pangs that come with a sudanese diet. Which is why I'm bitching on an internet forum to a bunch of strangers. Fucking hell, I just find it pathetic. Oh yea he drives a $35,000 car w/ a $500 a month insurance rate, that's the punchline.

...

:erk:

One of my roommates is constantly broke. We sometimes have to wait to pay bills, to wait till she gets her paycheck. She's a teacher at a private school making only in the mid 20ks. She's a cool person, though.

Your friend is bad with his finances... he needs to read books on personal finance... budget himself and stop spending above his means... and being in debt...

 I make in the mid 15s and I am fucking 18 years old (just turned 18)

hopefully I will be making in the 30s once I become a manager in a year or two

Not bad for someone your age.

ya, I am doing alright, hopefully I become a manager in a year or two and then I am going to get my degree in finance from UIC (one of the best finance/business programs in the country)

my goal is 50-60 K by the time I am 24 years old whether it is working as a manager for GNC or another career in finance, and then just keep climbing that ladder from there on.

If I am not making 100 - 150 K by the time I am 30, I will be very dissappointed.

Yeah, this is likely the case. Although so many people have problems with defeating themselves in so many ways, it could be other stuff. Or he may just be greedy and have more than he says, and just be whining to get you to help him hold on to a few more pennies.

the only reason I would say that is because I'm in same boat... in debt and spending above my means but I'm working on straightening out my finances currently... but anyways sneak around and see if you can find a bank statement to see if he really is broke... if not then next time you go out with him.... tell him he's buying the next round of beers
