Dragonforce's greatest hits album. A must buy!!

Lol @ Dragonforce. Nobody has mentioned how terrible they play live. Drunk, completely out of tune, disorganized, pretty awful all around. It amazes me that anyone can walk out of a Dragonforce concert still a fan.

I actually used to think they were decent when Valley of the Damned came out, but when i saw some emo kid at my school wearing a DF T-shirt, I knew it was time to cease liking them.

Yeah, what's up with them being drunk all of the time? I have seen a lot of videos of Hermin Li falling down in every imaginable situation. It's not even funny. Anymore.

Funny though how no one bitched about the songs "sounding the same" like this when Reign in Blood came out.
I can see where you're coming from, but at the same time Reign in Blood was very original at the time, and unbelievably influential. For mixing the pure Bay Area thrash style with actually listenable metal, it may be as good as it gets even to this day.

Slayer's Thrashterpiece. It's their Master of Puppets, Rust in Peace, Abigail, Don't Break the Oath, Hall of the Mountain King, Operation:Mindcrime... etc. etc. You get the picture

Yea, that was my guess but as you can imagine, I didnt take to thrash to good at first (still) and totally skipped the Slayer, Anthrax, Exodus chapter of the book. I even had problems with Hetfield for awhile and absolutely HATE "And Justice for All" and any true Metallica fans I know love it, its a big pile of noise to me. The only thing I like is the lyrics.... go figure. Some of the riffs I suppose but its just not my style. I have listened to it over and over too but I just do not like it. I do like Master of Puppets. I didnt miss Hall of the Mountain King, Piece of Mind and OMC though.... lol. I have a like new Exodus EP cassette "songs from: Force of Habit" been played twice, Ill send you for a wedding present....... lol
..........................

Those video clips have me totally flabergasted, I figured these guys sucked in real life but I had no idea how bad....... OMFG ! forget the arpegios, tapping with a pick ? I almost feel like a good guitar player........

I'll have to give it a try, Im sure one of my friends has it and probably at one time tried to play it for me.

when i saw him tapping with a pick... i almost fell off my chair laughing. and herman li is a terrible excuse for a guitarist. he sweeps like me for god's sake.

hmm, never been a fan, and every article I've read confirms for me that Sam Totman is an absolute tosser, never have i heard a guitarist talk themselves up so much while sucking so badly... :heh: At least Herman is kinda funny and reasonably relaxed about it all...

Beyond me why so many people rip on DF yet try and rally support for other bands with virtually no reason other than citing that they're too popular or not very good. There are a dozen other bands doing much worse than DF out there who get props simply because they haven't achieved anything. What a fucking joke. Let me know when everyone here can play/write something good enough to catapult them into even the most temporary limelight that DF is in... If SX were to land a "big" hit like DF had, as least in the confines of the metal community, we'd see fans dropping like flies based on the worst criteria at all. Yikes, things are getting scary with some of you all.

Word!

Yeah, check it out. It's great for what it is.

I think it's a horrible example to compare to Dragonforce, who's always sounded the same. At that early point in their career, Slayer really wasn't repetitive. Compare the songs on Reign to the stuff on Show No Mercy - very few similarities in how they wrote riffs, solos, and songs.

I think stratovarius are a bit the same, better musicians but all the songs sound the same!!!!

i wouldn't say that there are some that sounds the same, (mostly there faster song's, speed of light, pheonix etc.) but then they throw in songs like soul of a vagabond and babylon and that doesn't make THAT bad.

but yeah way better musicianship especially Jens who's my main influence as a keyboardist.

read my posts man, Im not much of a thrasher, not to mention certain morality issues. Im not as up tight as I was even 10 years ago but I still have my line drawn firmly in the hardened concrete. :heh:

I'll still give it a listen for curious musical interests. Im sure once the "singing" starts Ill be turned right off but Ill suffer through

long live Sammy Hagar........ :p
