I'm listening for the first time in a while and the vox kick ASS. They are performed and recorded well. What mic did they use I wonder? The high end of Eric's raspy voice just sounds so kick ass.
Yeah, Dragonlord slays everything Testament has ever done in its history, except for Andy Sneap's production on The Gathering, Live in London and TFOD Eric's black metal rasp is somewhere between Ihsahn and Shagrath and it sounds fucking killer, I agree. I'm actually quite fond of the production on Dragonlord's second record, the kick is ultra-meaty for a modern black metal recording (the Thin Lizzy cover at the end allows you to hear it in isolation), guitars sound venomous and Derrick Ramirez's bass is right up in the mix.
Booooooo to both of you. If it wasn't for Sneap's production in The Gathering and TFOD, Testament are a kind of "75% band" for me, great melodic solos but boring and derivative as fuck riffs and vocals. Still, that's better than Arch Enemy, where you take away the Sneap factor on Doomsday Machine and its more like 50%.
