Great fit for the band, I prefer Minnemann as a drummer but Mangini is for sure the best fit for the band.

I hope he can give the band the boost they desperately need to write interesting music again.

I thought it was pretty dick how they made Priester and Roddy the fall guys just to get a bit of drama into their drummer search. They especially boned Priester, which was kinda lame. I did find it hilarious how they just "didn't click" with Priester as a musician though, seeing as I have found 10x more musical enjoyment in most of Priester's projects than I have in any DT song. Petrucci and Rudess came across to me as pretty freakin' boring and elitist in the videos, but maybe it's unfair of me to make that judgement.

I think they are pretty elitist so it's no surprise they come across that way. As for Priester, I also think he is a great drummer, obviously a very naturally talented human being, but perhaps in this case his natural ability (more ability than knowledge) is what limits him. They were obviously looking for someone like themselves, that understands all the theory behind the music they create, someone that can speak the language of trained musicians. I have no doubt that Priester could do anything asked of him given time to digest and work through the details, I just think they were looking for someone with more of a session type background, someone given a score sheet could nail the part with little time invested in working through the parts. Thats just the opinion I gathered from watching the videos.

I stated up front that I thought Mancini was the person that fit the best with what I thought DT was looking for and it came as no surprise that he ended up winning as he had all the qualities that they were looking for. Quite frankly to be honest, he could almost be a clone of Portnoy in many ways - technical, emotional, funny at times (depends on what you find funny), knowledgeable, all he needs to do is grow a blue goatee and let his hair get a little longer and the transformation will be complete. :)

In the end, I'm sure the others not chosen will still have success in their careers as talent like that shown in all of them will always find a gig or a job. Perhaps one of them will replace Mancini up at Berklee, they might have an opening now. :)

DT took a lot of liberties with some amazing drummers - that is not cool or fair....seriously unhappy with the treatment of men who deserve better. Happy for Mike, Marco Minnemann was better but they would be scared that he would steal the show......Donati, Lang, Roddy, Wildoer, Priester - ALL deserver better representation.....as a matter of fact DT look like cunts for downplaying drummers like them

cool, that i became aware of Peter Wildoer through this.

and yeah, congrats to Mangini; probably really fits best for this job.

I really enjoyed all 3 episodes. I respect their choice but I would have went with marco or thomas.
