My vote goes for Marco Minnemann. He has the technique, passion, energy, charisma and creativity that one needs to take the place of Portnoy.
Oh, and by the way:
John Myung speaks on the very end of the second episode

 That dude is so creepy, I thought he was mute or something.

That's exactly why I like Myung  I dunno, it gives hime some weird character. I seriously find him funny for that, and yet, play awesome bass lines. His bass is horrid-looking, by the way.

Petrucci is so boring to listen to. I mean, he sounds like the average not-funny daddy one of our friends have. We all have a friend who has a boring daddy like that !

Rudess sounds like a douche when he speaks and has mimics to go along with that, he sounds like a know-it-all to me, which I find funny as well.

Labrie just doesn't exist for me, my brain sort of invented a phase cancellation plugin to his voice in my neuronal fx chain so that I can try enjoying DT songs at least a bit for the epic parts. Since then, I can't tell if Erotomania has voice or not but I like it this way

About the audition, from the videos you can tell either priester or wildoer impressed them even more than mangini. in the final webisode, there will be some... suspense... Maybe we will have to text a number from 1 to 7 to a commercial phone number

As of now I'd guess it would be Mangini or Marco.. My preference is Marco. I can't stand Mangini's personality. It's as if he's begging to be in DT. FFS why don't you suck their cock while you're at it??? You can't deny his ability, but everything else about him irks me, just like Derek Sherinian's personality irked me after he was in the band for a while. I'm looking forward to seeing what Wildoer brings to the table.

Also, they should have shown more TDOE rather than Nightmare. That would have shown the true mad skills of everyone...

I don't know if it's just me, but seeing Petrucci trying to look like a body builder more and more has started pissing me off. I can't even look at him without wanting to punch him. Always wearing size Small/Med shirts that are too tight. I'm all for getting in shape and stuff, but it's like he's trying pull a George Lynch or something. /rant

He's starting to look more like a fatass than anything...like he stopped working out but kept drinking 15 protein shakes a day.

finally manages to watch both episodes....so far, as most of you already said, minnemann or mangini....i prefered minnemann by far tbh, but judging from the video mangini pretty much got the job.
i got to say, he fits the band as it is now better than minnemann, too....image, playing style and everything.
having that said, minnemann is the superior drummer IMHO.

that too.

Back on topic: I can't wait to see the final episode (#3) tomorrow. My guess is that Peter is the one that really impresses them. :)

Marco just looks so damn goofy when he plays. He's a great player, but I don't see how some of you are saying Mike is goofier. I say on the cheesy goof ball/over acting level they are about the same.

Oh, and for those that haven't seen this yet.... Peter Wildoer video tracking drums for James' Static Impulse album.

Minnemann reminds me of paul gilbert, same kind of goofy (in a good way) attitude.

Would not be bad if he got the part :).. the problem is at the moment I cant imagine any of them being a "real" member because of how big a part Portnoy was of dream theater (I mean, he was actual the frontman of the band most of the time).

So anyone thats going to replace to him still kinda feels like a session member.

Well, after watching this... I'm happy. Congrats to Mangini. I'm kinda bummed Peter didn't get the gig, but whatever... I'm still looking forward to see what Mike can offer the band.

anyone else think Peter looks like a young Ted Nugent?

Aquilles got BONED in this video ... as bad as Derek did

I agree with both your comments. Sucks Aquilles canceled gigs and such to fly out for nothing. I guess he can at least say he had the opportunity to audition, but when you have to cancel gigs and give up income, that sucks.
