^Haha

I´d like to see Minnemann getting the job. Beside the fact he´s a beast on drums, he certainly would be a stimulating factor for the mood inside the band. Maybe James Labrie would laugh a bit more then :)

^^Hahaha!
Doesn't change the fact that he's my favourite drummer from this batch. I can see why you'd say he's overacting but who cares in the end. He's a nice guy and a tremendous drummer and to say his playing is emotionless because of this? You have to be kidding. Lang sounds a lot more mechanical for example (amazing consistency and strength tho).
I agree Marco Minnemann is awesome too.

Minnemann is an amazing drummer. But where all drummers are working on independence of the limbs, he's even working on independence on his thumb from his pinky, and left toe from his upper lip. He's just a bit "to much" when listening to him and his CD's. It's very inspirational listening to it drumwise, but I can't imagine him in dreamtheater toning it down so it suits the band.

Mangini so far is my first pick. But I think Wildoer is a guy that can be one of those suprises, far more suited than a Roddy. Roddy should stay with tech death metal, he's no progressive rock guy. Virgil and Lang are great clinicians but no drummers for a steady band.

Priester, guy is simply amazing, listening to him, and watching his DVD's, this guy would probably fit the best.. so I'm curious to his audition.

Mike fits perfectly to the band, but I think they should try something different, Minnemann would give fresh air to the band to get a new sound and keep evolving. With Mike it seems that will keep turning to the super heavy metal progresive stuff and that's all…
I liked Virgil too, it's amazing drummer and with minnemann, both are musicians from jazz school, so they do really understand what are they doing!

by the way, I think that Dream Theater will get the easiest way… Mike, fits on character, personality and playstyle, so he is the one who got more points.

I think most people in this position would rather opt to go on tour with the world's biggest prog metal band than to stay back at Berklee and teach lol

Exactly. And the fact that this semester is almost over, I'm sure he could go on leave for a bit and come back to teaching while they aren't on tour, writing, etc.

this might sound biased but anyway:
I think it would be great to see/hear Lang playing with the guys. I really liked what he played and his vibe in general.
Don't think they'll take him though...he didnt do as much on the personal level as the other guys I think, so he maybe was too much professional.

Minnemann was awesome too, really seems like a nice guy.

Mangini would be a bit "too much" if I had to stand in the same rehearsalroom with him

dunno how I'd feel about priester...from what I remember he's too much br00tal for DT imo

Mike had so much input on the writing of the material and the bands direction in general, I think it will be really interesting to see what the future brings. All of the drummers here are very high level cream of the crop and in many aspects may be more technically advanced than Mike... I've always been a fan of both Mike and the band, and this should be really cool to watch how it all plays out!

My vote goes for Marco Minnemann. He has the technique, passion, energy, charisma and creativity that one needs to take the place of Portnoy.
Oh, and by the way:
John Myung speaks on the very end of the second episode

 That dude is so creepy, I thought he was mute or something.
