drop a string gauge

That also depends about which scale are we talking here Joey. Atm I've got in my 25,5 Ibanez these Daddarios Phil mentioned in drop A and they're bit loose to my taste. A 11-62 custom EB set is waiting to be put on so I'll post thoughts later on.

its for the 24 fret black jack atx schecter

i'm not sure what scale it is, but its not anything out of the ordinary im sure

just whatever they ship them standard scale

we had 58 on it, and we literally could not tune it any certain way to make open A chord sound harmonious

just did a Drop A project with 7 string guitars
we used a D'addario Baritone pack of strings... i think it was .012 - .068 and then just used a .010 for the high string. worked out pretty well, could have gone a bit thicker... definitely would not go less than 68

I'd get the GHS set that used to be the Zakk Wylde Heavy - 11-70, if I'm not mistaken - and then put a 26 in the middle for the D string. Another option would be the kind of baritone set mentioned above. If you want to make a custom set, PM me and I'll put a properly balanced set together for you.

I use a .70 on a 24 fret 7 string to tune to G. It has the tension you'd expect on a standard tuned guitar. Can go lower with it or up to A and still feels and sounds good.

.070 for sure.

I'm surprised most here have scaled back to lighter strings. There was a trend going around to Loomis it up a few years ago. You need a thick fucker down there, one that's inconvenient to play and everything. My Jazz 3s can barely get onto it, but the tuning is fantastic.

Guess I must be a pussy if I can use 59 for the A, heh.
59 has never caused me any problems

I'm using a 056 with a 27" scale. Would like to put a 060 there instead, but sadly Elixir doesn't make one. I mainly tune standard though, but every once in a while I drop the B to A. For a long while I used to use the 068's Elixir does make (and 070's before I switched to Elixir), but I thought they sounded duller and didn't "bite" as well as strings that are a bit lighter.

I tried an Elixir 060 bass string once though... Never again. They sound, well, like a bass I guess.

What I'm trying to say is that upping the gauge might not be the solution, but then again, that's just what I've found, might not be the same for you. The Blackjack's a 26.5" scale BTW as mentioned above.

I'm using a 70 bass string to tune down to B. Its the only gauge that stays tight on my guitar :D Having strings this heavy seems to give it a thicker sound, its hard to describe but it just sounds fuller.
