drop a string gauge

did you find anything dude?
the key is to ask for baritone packs... should have no problem finding a 68 or 72... i definitely wouldn't go under 68.
also a 145 for bass is a must

welp, we found out that the nut jobs at schecter filed out the nut so much that the string was literally just touching the first fret

it was putting the top string at about a 32nd from the fretboard haha

compared to the other grooves, its insanely lower

Wow, that's pretty ridiculous (nice focus effect btw :D) Dunno how pressed for time you are, but since I imagine you'll need a new nut I can't recommend one of these highly enough! (it almost looks like that's what came installed on it, though of course it could just as easily be black plastic in a similar shape)

thanks haha, my girlfriend is a photographer and my camera battery is dead so i had her do the shot for real haha...

what came on it was black plastic, and terribly filed

ive got a esp h1001 and any set above 54's dont fit into the headstock groove for the strings they pop out on the top. Namely the third string (g in standard tuning) and the low A just sit on top of the nut. Is that normal?
sorry i dont know the correct guitar terminology and i wanna put bigger strings on

Just take it to a tech to get the nut slots widened dude (or better yet, get a Graph-tech nut that matches the measurements, have him install it, and be in tuning bliss  )

if i may add :

i use custom strings from pyramid strings for our 8 string. I tune E B E A D G B E

.86 - they wouldnt ever fit into my ibanez rg 2228, so i asked pyramid to make the strings thinner at 74 cm,
so they fit perfectly. (i think the right name for that is cross-section diminution?!?, sorry, im not a native english speaker ;-)

if anyone is interested, pm me for contact info on these custom strings.
they are not cheap, i pay 13 Euros per package...

yeah, but still its pretty expensive for me at least ;-)
15 euros is crazy, but damn those elixirs are nice strings!

Eh, considering that I get 2-3 days of good sound out of Ernie Ball, 1-2 weeks of good sound out of D'addarios, and maybe a month of good tone out of Blue Steels... all at around $5-6 a pack... vs the $15 it costs for a set of Elixirs that last a year for me? Elixirs are really very cheap :)
