i don't think even Drudkh knows they have this many fans ...especially ones of color :D

Oh that reminds me, I gave a CD-R of Autumn Aurora to my Jewish friend. He likes it. :dopey:

I only got to hear one track 'cause my dad started vacuuming and it was too loud... but it sounded like fuckin killer! and since then i've gone back to AA 3 times and it totally kicks ass too!

A "meh" came to me , then I accepted that it was different from AA . Listened to it twice , Fate is amazing (edit:Blood & Eternal Sun too). Drudkh rules ..

They went Hate Forest on this one . J. will probably crap his pants soon.

Guitar solos rule but in general the new one sounds too much like Astrofaes and Hate Forest and too little like Drudkh

That pretty much sums it up nicely. I dunno though... I've gotta listen to it drunk before I pass final judgement.

more like Hate Forest? That's cool! But I hope this doesn't mean that HF went Drudkh for the next one.

How so?

How is Hate Forest different to the other squillions of BM bands out there? I've heard Battlefields - it's good, but is it in Autumn Aurora territory? Not even in the same ballpark IMO.

People got so wrapped up in those folky sampled snippets in between all the metal songs on Battlefields. The real question is, would you still like Battlefields as much if it wasn't for those interludes? Because the metal songs themselves didn't really stand out when compared to other supreme BM bands....

With that said, Forgotten Legends is way too repetitive for my liking, so I'd be curious to see what else Hate Forest have to offer. If it's more run-of-the-mill BM then I'll stop at Battlefields.

Personal preference I guess. TO me, Drudkh doesn't offer anything I can't get from Burzum or Bergtatt. So I don't find them to be too special. That's not to say I don't enjoy the two albums, but I get very bored of them, very quickly.

If you'd of asked me this when I first discovered these two bands, I would've said Drudkh is the better band, but HF continues to impress me over time while Drudkh has fallen to the wayside. Drudkh is more immediate, easy listening, while HF requires patience, at least for me. And like some others around here, I think Drudkh is way overhyped for what they offer. I like their albums, but they are far from classics.

ANd to be honest, I find those weird Ukrainian folk songs to be somewhat annoying on Battlefields. I'd much prefer ambient pieces. But the music is divine in a sinister sort of way, kind of a more horror-type Graveland. Bad description, I know.

Battlefields is HF's best album in my opinion, so take that as you will.
