Dubstep Recommendations

I don't hate it all.
I do think that 90% of it is generic crap though.

while that's true, it's not what you said at first.

it's good that we're agreeing in the end though. dubstep has been a hard genre to get into, with all the absolute gems it has, and the majority of it all being shit.

I just recently got into dubstep, dont know if its in one of the vids posted because i didnt listen to them but check out dubba jonny, "VIP tutorial" has a sick wobble on it.

And dubstep has to be heard on a great system otherwise it just doesn't do it justice at all.

Dubstep is absolute trash... but awesome at raves and clubs.

Anyone else here produce any dubstep? It's really fun tbh, I love making patches in massive, being able to assign an LFO or envelope to every single control is awesome. I'm really shit still, but I do it for fun and nothing more :)

i've been working on some... trying to come up with a bit different kind of stuff, like dubstep with actual different song parts. everyone's liking it so far, but i've got nothing online yet as i'm learning as i go

Some shit I've been working on, PURE CHEESE, but I'm mainly focusing on getting a huge mix before I focus on more complex melodies and song structures, which are obviously needed in the above clips as they are pretty repetitive

i like what's going on especially in the second one. the two buildups that didn't seem to drop were kind of annoying though, i hate electro that builds up but then backs up again, especially in the club  makes you go "FUCKING COME ON ALREADY!!"

when it drops, the flux pavilion-esque (judging by the name i'm guessing this track was inspired by him) part is cool but it lacks foundation and gets irritating to the ear quickly. try to stack a lot of different lower synth layers together.

just something that came to mind. i'm thinking of posting something later, my stuff is a bit different but i'm keen to hear what people will think.

Thanks for the feedback Sopulurn, agree with everything you said pretty much. Especially about layering, defiantly need some more interesting shit going on in the background.

Also, completely agree on songs that take ages to drop properly at clubs being irritating ... seeing Deadmau5 live, he takes like 15 minutes of intro before the drop, then cuts off after 3 minutes for another ludicrously elongated intro, followed by 3 minutes of 4 to the floor. It probably didn't help that we'd been up since 7 in the morning and rolling on e from 3:00pm onwards but still, most annoying set ever

I can recommand to you the Skream! 2006 album which is somewhat the 1st album that really made a hit in the UK and pretty much started this whole dubstep scene.
Kode9, Burial, BENGA «---- real awesome artist, but you must like the dark moody ambience, sort of trance.
For Benga you want to get the Invasion EP (bam 008), it kicks ass really
You may want to get the All-stars Dubstep volume (mostly vol 4/5)
Broken Note if you like the in your face I rape your ears sort of electronical music
Cookie monsta is also a fav.
As for mix you want to download this
http://www.house-mixes.com/profile/DJ Qazi
Page 3 (Dubmarine Mix), anything by Qazi will do as he is mostly up to date in the genre and makes kickass mix

I may as well go with some of my tracks while I'm at it.

(Prog-ish dubstep) (Contains Heavy Guitar and sampling LE456 FTW!!)
http://soundcloud.com/fastworker/fastworker-point-of-view

(grimey shit every one think that is dubstep)
http://soundcloud.com/fastworker/fastworker-crotch-on-leather

(some breakbeat/ambience/slam/breakcore tune)
http://soundcloud.com/fastworker/fastworker-turning-leafs

(Mystic Dubstep (think of prince of persia))
http://soundcloud.com/fastworker/fastworker-voices-of-confusion

This new dubstep trend is getting me, there's something addictive, maybe its the bass lines... Anyway, this is the best dubstep track I have ever heard

Fucking heavy!
