Thats always been the beauty of this forum ... you can come here and actually have a sane conversation about a band and not have to worry about the "Thats gay, That sucks..." type remarks, and for a few years now we have run the place like this There are several of us that can remember this forum in the beginning .. hahaha well the beginning of this era of UMOS there sure was a hole lot of jerks in here but we weeded em out but lately there has been some negative forces at work which sometimes bothers me ... enough is enough sometimes ya know

Well JD, I have been almost back to my old self as far as posting lately, but for a while I was slack. Though it seems like a stupid excuse, some of it is simply winter. I am NOT a cold weather person.
We will get this forum back together. I am going to try and get Fang back in here and maybe even bring in a couple other friends as well.

Harumi is what you would call "very pregnant." She has nausia, is big as a house, her back hurts and the worse thing is, she is about to give birth to a monster.... namely Bryant jr. (though his name is Koji Thomason) Koji is Japanese and we let her parents give options for names since they won't get to see him much. Thomason means son of Thomas which is my middle name. I'll be the typical "proud Dad" and post pictures. I already have the minivan too as well (by choice even before his inception as I love vans,) so I am ready.

Ha ha ha yep I think you and I would get along just fine. Sounds just like what I would do (the bar stuff that is.) Don't get me wrong.... I am a tough guy. I was never blessed at being a good fighter offensively, but I was the type that would have to have the living schit and shinola beat out of me to give up. I won a lot of my fights because the other guy got worn out.

As far as the Vito thing goes. I LOOK LIKE HIM !! I have dark frizzy hair, big eyes and a big nose. Trust me when I say that has nothing to do with me liking him. He's even uglier than I am (and that's a tough task) but though I know you really are far from a fan of "hair metal" and I also know you are somewhat familiar with him, you might want to seriously check out some of his solos. He's not a super fast player that is extremely hard to play cleanly, but he did so much with so many of the notes he played, it was incredible. It is ashamed really he didn't do anything after White Lion split. The guy stood out (in my ears) even with the great shredders there was in the 80's.

I'm pretty short Bryant, but built like a fireplug...so I've never been one to go toe-to-toe with anyone. I'd rather sweep their legs and take it to the ground where height doesn't matter. I've had my ass handed to me so many times it's not even funny, especially in high school, but I never gave up and i guess that's why people stopped messing with me so much. I hate fighting anyway - I can take a lot of shit and I'd rather just walk away - life's too short and there are too many wanna-bees packing blades and heat nowadays. Only time I don't walk away is if someone is threatening my family, especially now that I have a baby on the way. Aside from that - cold beers, jamming out and telling stories about way back when is a much better time in my book than getting into fights and having to put cold meat on a black eye.

As for Vito - hands down - the guy can play his ass off, and he definitely stood out. One thing you guys will always be able to say about me, regardless of how "anti-glam" I am, is that I give credit where credit is due. It's not fair to discount a musician just because they wore hair spray and spandex - but - when that's ALL there was to a band (and there are a SHITLOAD of glam bands that were nothing more than their image), I have no use for them all all. But in some cases, you have very talented musicians who just happened to end up in that type of gig so they made the best of it...Vito Bratta being one of them. Warren DiMartini from RATT was another talented guy who ended up in a band that didn't really push the envelope too much. On the flip side, you have bands that just had no redeeming qualities and managed to become popular (I won't mention any so as not to hurt anyone's feelings)...

I'm a hardass but I'm pretty damn even-handed and I call it like I see it.

And for the record - I will never again just say that a band sucks (even if they do). Obviously people take things way to personally, so it won't happen again.

You have my word on that.

I am absolutely the opposite of you as far as build. I am tall and lanky but unlike most tall thin people, my strength is also near my body. I like to fight on the ground because I can't box for shit (though I am southpaw.) I have never started a fight in my life but twice with the exception of being totally shitfaced and never won the fight when I was that drunk. As you well know, I am a hippie (jeez this post sounds way too familiar ha ha ha) in a sort of a way, but being a former football player (and still a huge fan) I guess you being a Marine makes me want to talk about a little aggression.

I don't recall being down on you about being "anti-glam," because as a sub-genre it is far from my fave but I take one band for their worth, not their style and there are a few bands I like that are considered "hair" bands. If you think about it, Poison sounds better than a shitload of music out there today. I don't like Poison and don't own a single release by them, but what I am trying to say is, that though neither of us like them, they play heavy (at least on a comparative basis to most popular music) music, write their own songs, and work hard on stage.
All of those factors can't make me like the band because I don't like the way they sound, but it gives me a small amount of respect for them. The hair metal genre in general isn't for me, but I can respect them (some of them) that have worked their ass off to stick around.

Well stated Bryant - and I should have been clearer in my post - I never thought you were down on me for not liking glam. I was just trying to show the rest of the forum that I'm not some ignorant slob who never heard a glam song and just thinks all of it sucks and that none of their musicians had any talent.

And I respect some of them for sticking around as long as they have - it takes some hard work, no doubt. Being a musician, I'm just more critical of cheese-balls who don't really have much to offer but act like they do, that's all.

I hope you folks did not think I was trying to start something in the Winger forum
that was just about personal taste. And me and Wyvern had a misunderstanding
about Lacuna Coil but I told them that was other ppl's opinion about that band and
that I actually enojoyed them. Even though I listen to mostly the extreme genre's
of metal I feel more comfortable in the Old School forum I know Im a newbie but
hopefully I can hang with you folks it's seems like it some pretty interesting company!

Just remember guys the reason I like this forum so much is there is always intelligent discussions from the regulars and you guys are very knowledgeable. That's not to say some new guys won't join and add just as much to the conversations. Don't abandon this forum because you're being run our of your own home. If you have someone causing issues, by all means, let me know. I promise you I will handle it one way or another. I try to pop in when I can but I don't catch everything so it always helps to be notified.

I believe I'm talk in name of all the regulars when I'm praising your efforts to keep all Ultimate Metal running smoothly.
And if we do know we can count on you for help if things get sticky around, I also want the people to help weeding out the bad (like JD said) and keeping the family standing up.

This is not just a place to post about some music, is part of our way of life, this is family besides our families. I'm not going to give it up to flamers without an intelligent fight.

Cheers to all

You see KMADD, posting something like this sets you apart already from the true troublemakers because you came in and you were man enough to say "hey we had a disagreement blah blah everything is cool", etc. THAT is the kind of thing people appreciate.

Thanks for the kind words everyone.
