I need help with dummyloads. I need one a)that I can use with 100-120W head without a cabinet, b) that has an unfiltered lineout.

I`ve been searching the internet and there`s these boxes fairly cheap, but can only take 60w load max. Then there`s these that can do what I need but those come with a price tag.

Is there a cheaper alternative for TAD silencer, Koch loadbox II etc.?

I just got myself a THD Hot Plate and i am really happy with it... not very cheap though.
But maybe it's better spending some money at this point and get yourself some decent equipment.

Cheers!

You can make a dummy load with a single resistor rated at 120% the wattage of the amplifier or higher. Wire the resistor across the jack connections and take the output from the tip end of the resistor. Choose a resistor of whatever ohm rating you are using on the head. The shunt resistor will get quite hot due to the amount of wattage that it has to dissipate in the form of heat. If you want to achieve a line level output, then you will need to pad down the output further by using a balanced pad arrangement. For a shunt load of 8Ω, a 30k and 100Ω resistor will work fine. You could make this switchable as well, so you would have just the shunt resistor output as well as the shunt and pad resistor output in the same unit.

Something like this.

Shouldn't run you more than $50, $100 at the most. If you aren't competent enough to pull this off, then don't try it. A new dummy load box is less expensive than a new amp.

Tube Amp Speaker Out > Countryman Type 85 DI Input (set to "speaker") > (Thru > 150W 4, 8 or 16Ω resistor w/ 1/4" jack) and (Out > interface). Done. You can find a resistor for this purpose pretty much anywhere for about $25US.

Heyyyy! I got a Di box with that speaker switch. One thing I need to clear for testing at the moment. So when I connect the tube amp speaker out--Dibox--speaker, what cables should I use? Speaker cables for both connections (to di and from di)?
