If you like Opeth there is no way you will not like Crimson. Its Edge of Sanity, you must have heard of them! Crimson is an epic 40 min song that is brutal, while at the same time intensely melodic the whole way through, just like Opeth! Also there are some really lovely quieter sections of the song and the whole thing tells this epic story.

Heh...that sounds like an advertisement...but seriously, its really good. I don't know you but I know you will like it.

Oh...similar bands - Opeth, Dark Tranquility, Green Carnation :D

it's pretty much a death metal sound, combined with lots of 70's prog, great harmonies and a touch of mike. But then in a completely unopeth way. Absolutely Briliant. Just buy it. When you're into death metal and opeth, you will like it

hum, it seems to be great...ok dudes, thanks! first i'll download and, if possible, buy it in the future!

I was lucky enough to win a copy of my own in a bid for just 10 euros (incl. postage). I absolutely adore Crimson, it's one the best albums ever made. And without a doubt the best SINGLE ever made. ;) Helluva song.

Yes, Mike sings on it. I think he does a little guitar work also. He really isn't on much to my knowledge. Just maybe 3 little parts.

And yes, it is one song that clocks in at exactly 40 min.

Fucking amazing song/album. Some of the best lyrics of anything I know.

Haha it's actually 40.02 haha

And yes I have the album :D

Just to let you know! Mike sings the most brutal parts... his voice is more agressive than swanös

I have to disagree with that. Swanö sounds much more aggressive on Moontower than Åkerfeldt in anything.

Dan wrote that song in 24 hours!

In order to avoid any misunderstandings: The lyrics were written by Dan & Dread in one day, but the composing of the song itself took somewhat longer and other band-members were involved as well, AFAIK.

Btw, am I the only one here, who dislikes Mike's vocals on Crimson? Except for that excellent "god"-part, that is. He just sounds too straightforward and brutal in those other parts - they are lacking all the typical emotion in his voice. His guitar-lead, however, is great.

Mike's vocals are really nothing to write home to mumsy about, with the exception of that 20 second behemoth howl he lets out. That vocal bit, along with the lead guitar part at "Another self-proclaimed king" are the highlights for me.
