EMG 707 vs. 81-7 quick comparison clips

This Godless Endeavor.................enough said.

I've not heard anyone on here dislike that tone, so you can't really say that you dislike the tone of 707's.

Actually I very much prefer DHIADW's tone....which is also 707 as far as I know.

I have my schecter blackjack C7 at a guitar technician to install 707s and finally this week (after 20 days :ill:) it should be finished. I'll try to make some samples too.

All I was trying to prove is that the TGE tone is very desirable for most people here, so there is nothing inherently wrong with 707's. Maybe you guys got a bad batch, or else EMG's QA is going down the shitter.

Okay, so I've corresponded with EMG's tech support without much to show for it. At the end all I got was 'insert a resistor prior to the output jack to lower the pickup output level'.

I've now forwarded my issues to Schecter and will see how they respond.

Yes, but the Loomis youtube videos are showcasing the complete opposite.

+1, I wouldn't dig on a Krank if that were my only source of info as far as sound

Luckily, there are plenty of great examples though :)

And, Ermin isn't using his HellRaiser through a Krank (I'm sure he may have, but mostly I see him talking about 6505, etc.) so I think it's safe to say it's not just Krank amps that bring it out. I'll double check on my Bugera to see, but I have already jammed on the 333 once with my C7 and it had that sound to it as well...

The videos of Mike Amott using a Krank were great examples IMO, pretty much nailed the studio tone off Doomsday Machine.

Well it came through on my JSX whit both mine and Ermins guitars, so it is accross the board when it comes to amps.

In trying to work out my EMG whoes, I started playing around with gain settings/ stages and realised that one of my biggest annoyances- muddiness, was due to the way I had gain set on the amp and TS, though now the clicking is even more evident on the B and seeems to have dissapeared on all the other strings.

I really don't know where to go with this crap.

And HOLY SHIT is that tone awful in those vids, I would SWEAR it was a single coil if I didn't know better (Smith's guitar sounds way fucking worse than Loomis' though)

Could this possibly have to do with string gauge, pick or picking technique?
I use 10-52 and 70 strings btw.
I think it's really weird you guys have this problem...I believe that the solution must be something really simple.

Hmm good call. It may be string gauge. My C7 is from Bloodjinn on this forum. He said he had it strung up with 9's so Ermin if you are using light gauges like that try a thicker set. I just busted the high E myself so I'm going with my trusty 11-48 set and a 52 for the low B. Hopefully thicker strings does take care of it.

I'm using the stadard guage at the moment as listed on the Schecter website (10's, but can't remember what the B is). I know that Ermin has tried afew string guages and has not seen any change.
