Yep, The Recto clip was a bit better mixing wise, it still has guitars with only a low pass filter added. Both of the tracks are very rough when it comes to mixing, since they were only made to test the guitar tones.
Like I mentioned, I am still learning in getting a good tracked tone out of the Invader. I have had the Recto for over a year now, so I am somewhat used to it I still find myself learning new tricks with it though, since it really is capable of a huge range of tones.
I found that the EMG 707's and the Invader don't really sound good together, since the 3rd channel on the Invader + the 707's= hollow low mids. It sounds pretty thin, but it has a lot of low end in the 100hz region where it's not that desired.
I should try tracking the Invader with a tubescreamer, because the 707's don't really sound that good by themselves, at least with the amps I have! Too hollow in the mids and too much low end. I gotta try tracking the amp with a TS tomorrow. And maybe try my Orange PPC412, since it has more mids than the Mesa cab.
The Recto really needs the TS to tighten it up when playing low tuned metal, so maybe it helps with the Invader as well, giving it a healthier midrange and cutting the lows a bit.
Ok.
The day i tried my Schecter Hellraiser C1-FR (EMG81 bridge) 2 years ago, i tried on many amps (inc. Uberschall, Deliverance, Pitbull CLX, Pitbull UL, ENGL Invader) and i remember it sounded pretty killer on Invader's channel 3.
So maybe you should try with an EMG81 if the TS doesn't help.
