Thought I'd reccommend this to everyone - its excellant - reminds me of Blackwater Park. For anyone that is new to the band like myself, their almost like a Black Metal Opeth - don't know about previous records but this one is very progressive, anyone who likes Opeth (I assume that appeals to everyone on this forum) should like it. Terrorizer gave it 9.5/10.... Metal Hammer 8/10.. so take a look on the myspace page which has 3 tracks from the record and see what you think.

I absolutely love Vertebrae. It feels more like a rock album compared to their other stuff, but there is a lot of that psychedelic finesse that makes Enslaved so awesome. I wouldn't say that it's better than Ruun but definitely just as good.

this one is definitely one of the year's best. Ground is probably my favorite track on there, amazing guitar solo.

would their discography before Isa be worth checking out? I really like the previous two, but from what I understand their earlier ones were more black metal and less progressive.

The three before Isa are very much in the progressive grain (Mardraum a tad less-so). I'd say that Below The Lights is their best.

While I think Vertebrae is a good album, I really can't stand the praise this song's guitar solo gets. It's flamboyant worship and it's absolutely boring. Yes, Enslaved, I understand, you like Pink Floyd. I get it. I'm also yawning.

I tried to buy Vertebrae a few days ago but it wasn't in stock yet. Their last album Ruun has been my favorite album for the last two years.

^ ROFL @ Sig.

Enslaved caught my attention a few years ago when they played a gig here in India. Until then they were just another band. Since that gig i've been a huge fan. And yes, eagerly waiting on the latest release. Haven't heard any previews to it but i'm sure it'll own.

The production lets it down a bit imo, seems a bit dry and the guitars fail to rip my face off the way I want them to, especially during moments when they kick in after some Floyd-y progginess. Songwriting though it's really excellent and continues to grow on me.

my copy came today from amazon! i got the limited edition, theres nothin special about it except that its a digi.

i really do enjoy this album, its not my favorite enslaved piece but i just love the direction that enslaved is going in. there's obvious use of influences on this record, but this album sounds so fresh and quite a bit more warmer than past enslaved albums. i can play this to my friends who arent into black metal and they wont be as nauseated as before.

cheers to enslaved!

found it kinda boring, and i love enslaved. except for the first track and ground the songs are pretty hard to tell apart.

basically. good album but the only standout tracks are clouds and ground. both amazing, a little similar to i guess. the other tracks just don't do it for me, especially the one that starts off with the eld-like scratchy black metal riff.
