Epic Songs

Anything by Rhapsody is epic...
it's rather cheesy, not epic...

Agalloch - In The Shadow Of Our Pale Companion, And The Great Cold Death Of The Earth
While Heaven Wept - Of Empires Forlorn
Moonsorrow - Rauniolla
Ulver - the whole Bergtatt

Bathory - One Rode To Asa Bay, The Lake, the whole Twilight Of The Gods

King Crimson's Moonchild Including the Dream And the Illusion

I really dislike that song, except for the first 2 minutes of actual interesting music.

Green Carnation - Light Of Day, Day Of Darkness
The keys on practically anything Borknagar do give their songs an "epic" feel
Orphaned Land El Nora Alila album
Anything by Agalloch
Nevermores The Lotus Eaters
Subterranean Masquerades Six Strings To Cover Fear (mostly thanks to the beautiful violins in the beginning
Camel's Lady Fantasy
Dark Tranquillity's Insanity's Crescendo
Insomnium - Song Of The Forlorn Son
Pearl Jams Black
Queen - Innuendo

I think I may consider songs epic differently than other people...

Dan Swano's stuff is very triumphant. It's got that cliched 80's vibe about it. The two Crimson albums plus his Moontower release are great 'epic' metal albums.
+1

also
Zero Hour - Demise & Vestige
Zero Hour - Metamorphosis
Hourglass - The Journey Into

epic tracks.

Symphony X - The Odyssey
Rhapsody - Gargoyles.. Angels of Darkness
Rick Wakeman - Journey to the Centre of the Earth
Dream Theater - A Change of Seasons
Genesis - Supper's Ready
The Flower Kings - The Truth Will Set You Free etc. etc. etc.

Some mentioned Agalloch - In the Sadow of out pale Companion
but you forgot She Painted Fire Across the Skyline
that song is comparable to Black Rose Immortal.

Epicness and lenght do not always go hand in hand, though. Shame I couldn't be fucked thinking past pressing the 'length' tab on Windows Media Player to really make a real post, but there sure are some shorter songs which are still epic. Not that I'm going to give any examples..

Well:

don't forget Symphony X's Divine Wings Of Tragedy too!

Dopesmoker's sleep is 62 minutes I think, but It's repetitive and boring.

If you notice, Dream Theater's Scenes From A Memory is not only a concept album, but all the songs tie together aurally.

Well, by my own personal definiton of epic, here are a few songs that I think might pass for epic (note: I don't necessarily like all of these, they are just examples of 'epic' songs):

Nightwish - Ghost Love Score
Dimmu Borgir - Progenies Of The Great Apocalypse
Opeth - A Fair Judgement, The Drapery Falls, When
Portishead - Roads (in an understated way)
Porcupine Tree - The Start Of Something Beautiful, Strip The Soul
Yeong Wook Jo - The Last Waltz
Paradise Lost - It's Too Late
Borknagar - Collossus, Revolt
Arcturus - Ad Astra
Anathema - Flying, Temporary Peace, One Last Goodbye, A Dying Wish
Tool - The Grudge
Antony And The Johnsons - Hope There's Someone
Bjork - Pagan Poetry
Twinzero - Monolith
Dead Can Dance - Summoning Of The Muse
Blut Aus Nord - Procession Of The Dead Clowns
Dream Theater - This Dying Soul
Emperor - The Eruption
My Dying Bride - A Doomed Lover, The Wreckage Of My Flesh, The Deepest Of All Hearts
Elbow - Switching Off
Muse - Citizen Erased, Butterflies And Hurricanes
Pearl Jam - Black
Pelican - Angel Tears
Radiohead - Paranoid Android
Rufus Wainright - I Don't Know What It IS
Deftones - Minerva, Change In The House Of Flies, PAssenger
Sigur Ros - Hoppipolla
Explosions In The Sky - The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place (album)
Cult Of Luna - Leave Me Here
Tori Amos - Can't See New York, Precious Things, Northern Lad, Icicle
Winds - Visions Of Perfection

And anything by Hope Of the States, especially Black Dollar Bills and The Black Amnesias
