i think he is the most underated guitarist. I Cliffs of Dover is just a masterpiece in itself.

I cant wait to see him and Satch next month.

Do you mean Kirk is Overrated, cause I think thats what you meant lol.

There are a dozen guitarist's whos talent has no bounds (mjr) yet are not known by most people, yet kirk is known very well by many. Erik Johnson is another example of a guy who people dont know, but they continue to know Kirk.
 
I think Eric Johnson's music is incredible, but as a performer he's a very different individual. I didn't like him on the G3 tour way back when because he wasn't very flamboyant on stage, especially when compared to Satch and Vai during the jam. On the other hand, if he's on the stage by himself, he's amazing to watch. The Austin City Limits show from way back was amazing.

I've always been a huge fan of his since I first heard Zap. I wish he wouldn't take so long to put out records though. Perhaps he's too much of a perfectionist.

I'm not going to say i dont like some of his riffs and solos, but I thik Eric Johnson deserves way more credit.
 
I'm not sure EJ is underrated. He's just not a metal guitarist, and therefore doesnt get much attention on a forum like this. He is definitely in my top 3. I love his live shows, and the Austin City Limits DVD kicks ass. I also think he fit in well on the G3 tour, basically because he brought some diversity to the lineup. And clearly both Vai and Satch recognize his talents and dont underrate him. He's doing 2 shows in Chicago, and I plan on attending both.

Last time I was in guitar center some guy was playing Cemetary Gates...:headbang:

seriously though, Kirk is horrible, and metallica is long dead.
Even Steve Vai couldn't teach him anything eccept how not to take your foot off the wah at all times...lol..

I meant you average 13 year old, who want to be a guitar rockstar when he is older but only puts in like 30 solid minutes a day.... if that....
