Why isnt Exodus a part of the Big Four of Thrash? The've been there since it started. Just a question that bugs me because they are like the thrash that never comes to mind when the subject comes up

I always wondered that aswell.
But its true, Success/Money over Quality.
Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, and Megadeth
were way more succesful, thus, the "Big" four.
I would take Exodus over Slayer anyday.

I happen to think that any of the "Big 4" is better than Exodus in many ways, but "Big 4" is a pointless term after all, everybody has his/her own big four, so "this over that" debate has no sense really... :)

Exactly! The famous (or infamous) Big 4 moniker was coined as a marketing thing for a series of concerts time ago. Like Darko said, everybody has its own big 4 of whatever sub-genre of heavy metal you like, if it's thrash mine can be right now:

Coroner
Abandoned
Testament
Xentrix

wno knows tomorrow...

... because then they would be the "big five" instead of "the big four". But seriously, nobody's ever agreed about Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax being those "big four" and of those four, the only ones that are still big are Metallica and Megadeth. My two cents: I would put Testament instead of Anthrax or Slayer.

Bonded by Blood is untouchable but after that we got Pleasures of the Flesh which never kept my interest for long. Depending on who you spoke to Fabulous Disaster was a great album but they bombed out again after that one.

Kudos to them to come back trying to thrash it up and although I personally enjoyed Tempo "as the album they should've made after FD" I really don't get the link with past Exodus and the Dukes stuff...

Exodus over Anthrax is more like it.
Exactly...

Seriously, I don't think u grew up in the 80's when the Thrash scene was in full swing. Because everyone then has always agreed that those 4 bands were considered the "Big Four". And as for "still big". I would say Slayer is bigger then Megadeth nowadays.

The "Big 4" term was a snapshop in histry when Megadeth, Metallica, Slayer and Anthrax were at their peaks. If it was a running label, that picutre would have changed a brazillion times since the 80s.

MY Big 4 always were:

Testament
Megadeth
Metallica
Exodus

IMO, the big 4 isn´t bad at all ´cause, for me:

SLAYER: Best live act
MEGADETH: Skillest musicians
ANTHRAX: Best studio career (I love more or less every Anthrax album)

The fourth one? Difficult. Personal pick among:
TESTAMENT
SABBAT
DEATH ANGEL
SODOM
