"Exposures - In Retrospect And Denial"

Dark Tranquillity celebrates its 15th birthday by releasing a double CD featuring rare and previously unreleased material.

For many years, we've received lots of questions regarding the possibility of our pre-album material ever being released on CD, and we're very happy to provide old and new fans that are interested in the first chapter of our history with a viable alternative to forking out a small fortune on Ebay for a worn-out original copy of the demo or 7" EP.

After a lot of digging though the vaults, the original DAT tapes for our "Trail Of Life Decayed" demo (1991) and "A Moonclad Reflection" EP (1992) were found, and we could happily note that they were intact and had survived the ten years in limbo remarkably well. With the help of some carefully executed mastering magic, the sound quality has been boosted a great deal.

In addition, we have the pleasure of including a couple of songs that were recorded during the studio sessions for our last three albums. Some of these tracks, like "Exposure" and "Cornered", have until now only been available on limited edition versions of the albums, while some others, like "Static", "No One" and "In Sight", are previously unheard by anyone outside the immediate band circle.

As a special treat, we're also including a second disc with more than 70 minutes of live songs (the audio portion of the recently released "Live Damage" DVD. Enjoy!

"Exposures..." comes packaged with an extensive 20-page booklet filled to the rim with exclusive photos from all stages of the band's career as well as liner notes from noted music journalist Chris Dick (www.digitalmetal.com), a initiated long-time observer of the scene.

The release dates for "Exposures…" will be May 24 (Europe) and June 15th (USA), and the 2-CD will be released for the fair deal of a Single-Disc price.

and as this is now the new official dark tranquillity release, it deserves sticky status and a link in the rules thread instead of the damage done live dvd. if anyone has questions about it, i'll try to answer unless they're too personal and x-rated. :)

what a year for DT lovers :dopey:
questions it is, my dear mr information source:
misery in me - studio or the live version? (I think I know the answer, but still... :) )
how old are the songs previously unheard by anyone outside the immediate band circle.?

studio. nothing you've heard on bootlegs before.

static --> outtake from damage done

in sight --> outtake from haven

no one --> outtake from projector

misery in me --> studio version dating back to haven era.

that's wonderful. like, way cool. i'm going to buy only a metal album this year and exposures it will be.

Awesome stuff :D
To Niklas, and the rest of the band, this is a great thing you're doing for your fans, you should be proud. :)

Rahvin, questions:

1. Do you have any idea what the photos are? Are they unseen promo pics, recording studio pics, or a combination of both?

2. Are you sure this beats the manowar thread?

3. How does this relate to pineapples?

1. many different sources. some of them have been seen before on magazines or promos, while others are totally new for the fans, featuring shots from tours, the band drinking in bars, just whatever looked good at the moment. :)

2. this is not the right strategy to make me pose in the nude, ben. :p

3. you're gonna love this new dark tranquillity release more than you have ever loved pineapples.

And I was just thinking how sad it was that I wouldn't have any new albums to buy during the first half of 2004... This should be interesting! :) And I absolutely love the low price ;)

1. Brilliant, more inclination for me to go to Tuska to thank them personally :D

2. What WILL work? Honestly, it's like you don't want my attention :(

3. Then it MUST be good (pre-orders)

oh. I knew they released a demo as septic broiler, but the title never stuck. it would have been a nice thing to include to complete the discography, but we´ll just have to try to get along with what we´re offered. which shouldn´t be too hard. :)

and it looks promising indeed. the cover, that is.

This news made my day, awesome! I'm assuming the covers will be on the two reissues?

Dark Tranquillity action figures in the work, Niklas?
