extol's "synergy". . .

I know that it's opening up another can of worms, and it's a philosophy that can be shot down and show much hypocrisy on my part. But...

I will not listen to, or even give a chance to, a metal band openly proclaiming themselves as a christian band. I don't care what they sound like. The thought of it makes me ill.

I'm assuming that's because they "openly proclaim" it? I bet there are a thousand religious band members out there who choose to keep their christian faith to themselves.

Having said that, Extol don't exactly preach the gospel, but bands like Tourniquet do. I remember when Chief B had to do the review for them - his flesh was crawling.

i mean, who cares what a band's religious affiliation is?

i thought it was about the music!

the oftentimes lack of musical quality in "true satanic" bands have spoiled some fans/followers into believing otherwise. they are the biggest jokes of the metal community. fortunately, a few are redeemed in the fact that they actually play good music. but i digress. . .

It shouldn't become a conflict. All people with the view similar to bloodfiredeath's and Erik's should be able to recognize the hypocrisy on their part, as bloodfiredeath stated. If they don't, God help them.

I want to point out that in my Extol review, I made no mention of their personal beliefs because they do not preach it in their music. Or at least, it wasn't obvious to me.

On the Tourniquet review, the writer and I concluded that he make some mention of the fact that the band actually preach the gospel in their lyrics. (I think if I was reading a review, I would want to know what the theme of the subject matter was, and then make up my own mind as to whether I would buy it or not).

Likewise, if I was reviewing an NSBM, gore, love, Islamic, or gay band (where each theme was "preached"), I would feel obliged to mention that. If the band don't hide their beliefs, then neither should the reviewer.

Hypocritical, eh? What's hypocritical about choosing not to be subjected to views I loathe and which do nothing but aggravate me?

And don't give me all that "God" bullshit. You may be a christian but you know as well as I do that speaking like a fucking christian in a metal forum is nothing but trolling.
