extol's "synergy". . .

From Extol....to Thai Curry vs. Indian Curry.
In the debate of the best curry, I have to say that the Indian Curry wins hands down. I love Thai food (lived in Thailand for two years) but there is something about an Indian spicy chicken / meat curry that takes my breath away - I need my regular fix!

Why not? How is Islam any different to any other man-made religion?
Islam is no different to other man-made religions. The question that I wanted to raise is at what point do we say to ourselves "I'm just not interested in this."

Let me give you an example, on television, there are programs which are written with a religious slant - targeting demographic - and they use their 'story of the week' to teach the gospel. I don't watch these programs because a) I am not religious b) religion is a myopic existance c) religion is not progressive and hence hinders society. Now, if I apply my analogy to Metal, I don't want to hear about God and the Gospel because I have no affiliation with what they are trying to say. I don't care whether it sounds good or not because the moment that I read or realise that a band has a religous undertone in their music, I have simply turned off and I don't want to know any more about this particular band, whether they are an Islamic, a Jewish or even a Raelists - they believe they're from outer space.

For me, there is so much choice out there that Christian Rock (or whatever religion) is simply on the bottom of my radar.

Also, I guarantee that some bands who sing about Satan are not true satanists. They use the 'scare tactic' as a gimmick to sell.
Sure, but either way their beliefs, or their gimmick if you will, is less offensive to me than Christianity, and surely has more place in metal.

Otherwise known as Gamma Ray fans. :D "Illuminati, you've come to take control!"

Joking aside though, this was a good debate. I totally see both points of view....

.....but I still insist that Indian curry is the best. You can't beat a plate of keema, daal, and naan bread. :loco:

I will most certainly try some soon, and given my love of Thai curry I'm sure I will enjoy it. I don't know of any Indian restaurants near me, but downtown Riverside has lots of hole-in-the-wall places so I'm bound to find something. I'm sure Palm Springs has about 90 though, and I never need an excuse to head out to the desert...

Be careful - they are very different. In fact, I'm not even sure if Thai curry qualifies as 'real' curry. To add further confusion, even Indians don't cook curry as such. "Curry Powder" was thought up by the British when they left India, and they couldn't reproduce the ethnic food style cooking, so they came up with this concoction called 'curry'.

Anyway, if you like "Thai Curry", you should start with South Indian food. It's probably slightly similar in that it uses coconut and rice etc. Try "korma", and you ordering naan bread is mandatory. It's the best bread in the world - straight out of the tandoori oven.

The 'hole-in-the-wall' places are the best. You don't go for an Indian meal for the decor - you go for the food. The smaller outfits will be more authentic, in the style of home cooking.

I'm hungry now.

Oh. Maybe I'll see the show for Opeth, and stand around with arms crossed looking grim during Extol. That is, if they play anywhere near me and if it's cheap and all.

This is frakking AWFUL. Were Extol always this ghey sounding? I know I have an album of theirs lying around somewhere. The clean vocals makes James Labrie sound like William Wallace.
