Falling down the stairs

One time when I was little, I fell down the stairs backwards holding a chocolate milkshake. I fell down the entire flight of stairs, rolling backwards and flipping the entire way, and managed to keep hold of the milkshake the entire time, only spilling some.

Hurt like a bitch though, but kept my fucking milkshake.

I only slid a few stairs down by treading on something slippery. Unpleasant, but manageable.

On several occasions I slipped while running barefoot on a wet floor and smashed my toe into the wall/doorway. Now that hurt a lot.

Gone down whole sets of stairs a few times, only while drunk though. One house I was at had the upstairs toilet door opening directly onto the stairs and I was doing up my zip while coming out. I think people saw my peepee. : <<<<

I never fell down stairs, but I did fall down the few steps leading into the living room when I was about 3 years old. I wound up cracking my forehead open on the corner of the bottom step. I had to go to the hospital and get stitched up. I still remember screaming and crying until the nurse gave me a Snoopy band aid and a lollipop.

Now that I think of it have fallen down the stairs other than when drunk and was 3 years old getting stitches in my eyebrow. I was born in Connecticut and moved up here when 4 and before that fell down 4,5 concrete steps at my grandmas.

I fucking hate stairs, it's like a phobia thing. Upstairs is ok, but going down...oh it sucks.

Sometimes I have dreams where I fall off balconys, top floors, or other structures. Other times I have dreams of not being able to hold myself up while walking down stairs. I used to have dreams where I would fall for really long periods of time.

I seen a dude tumble about 30-40 steps from the top of an arena at a concert. Unbelievably he got up and continued banging his head. Probably was sore as shit the next day.

i fell off the roof as a child, good thing there were bushes down below and only got some scrapes and bruises. i was scared to shit though.

but i have never fallen off stairs.

I have dreams where I'm on a top floor, and the floor below is right in the middle, and while I'm on the top floor I keep slipping, and almost falling off.

One time we were walking down the stairs in a big theater in town. They are long stairs so there are like 2 "landing" areas on the way down. Just larger flat areas before the stairs continue. The hand rails go at the angle of the stairs and then flatten out at the landing areas. So it's like a 135 to 150 degree angle. My son slid down one of the rail sections and kinda slammed where it goes flat, and fell off. Then he went down the rest of the stairs and promptly threw up in a trash can. He was probably 8 or something.

My dreams almost always end with me tripping and faceplanting myself, even though I've never done that in my life.

Ok, first of all, the fact that this thread exists and people are participating in it without questioning how strange it is, is both awesome and hilarious.

Secondly...

I actually tried sliding down the banister when I was 5 and subsequently fell off and down two flights of stairs.

I broke my hip and had to be dragged around in a wagon for 6 weeks because I was in a full body cast.

It sucked.

That made me laugh my ass off. Seriously funny shit. The reason I think it was so funny is because I imagined a little kid with grown-up Ozzman's head/face. In my mind you were also wearing pajamas. Not sure how accurate that imagining is.

In High School, my brother was really good at pretending to fall down the stairs and making it look real. He used to do that shit all the time, and as far as I was concerned it never got old.

The house my family lived in when I was like 5 had an evil set of stairs. My father and I fell down them almost every time we went down them. I messed up my knee pretty bad and it's only gotten worse. That's about all I remember about my father was him tumblin down those stairs numerous times...

And about a month ago I was carrying some laundry downstairs, and a sock or something fell and I slipped on it. I fucking tumbled. I messed up my knee again and still limp. I was pissed too cuz my g/f was upstairs and didn't hear my 200 pound ass tumble down a flight of fuckin stairs. I had to crawl halfway up then started yelling at her. We argued cuz I fell and got mad cuz she didn't see if I was ok. In retrospect it's funny that she didn't hear...

Never legit fallen. When I'm rushing up stairs at school, though, I'll go two at a time (I'm huge, so it's actually awkward to take stairs one at a time, even normally). I'll usually only put my foot half on the step; the toe will be on the step, the heel in the air. This allows for the most speed (I think), but occasionally the toe slips and I look like an idiot. Sometimes I bang my knee. But yeah, it would take effort to fall all the way down unless you're a total klutz. No offense to those who have done so.

Have you ever been walking down the stairs in the dark and you think you are on the last step but you aren't then you take a huge step and almost break your neck?

Oh yeah. Or you think it's not the last step and you put your leg down and you're like "what the fuck is the floor doing there?"
