it's up to them to come up with the ideas, but it's up to you to make it all work in a mix, and at the end of the day, if it's not fitting, it's your rep as a producer on the line too, you need to get some sort of compromise.

i fully agree with you man, 100%.
i just normally like to give bands what they want if they want a certain sound.
if the band just says make it sound good, i just do what i think needs to happen. which normally those turn out as my best work.

UH??.....You mentioned something about humanizing?? you said they have a drummer that tracked all these tracks and you say he is that good why did you edit them?? Its gonna sound more real the more you leave untouched and even him being a little off in spots gives it a different realism you really cant edit together--unless of course thats how they want it and if thats the case i would just leave it. It sounds fine... Hes the one who has to get up and play the shows

Yeah they wanted it way so it it was super tight and very together.
another reason is we didn't have time to wast tracking live drums, so it was just the better thing to do for the sake of getting it all tracked in time.

i think we tracked the drums for about hour then moved on from there.
i would have loves to track live drums but it wasn't what they wanted to do.
