Favorite Album Opener...

The endless intro of "The Moor" disqualifies my otherwise favorite Opeth track; I love the bam-bam-BAM-BAM opening of "In Mist She was Standing", but I feel "Ghost of Perdition" is the most effective, powerful, and thus favorite, album opener.

The Moor, mainly because each note seems to ring with visual imagery. Listening to Still Life, it just seems like it should have been made for a movie. Am I the only one who sees the credits fading in and out during the intro of The Moor?

GOP. I love the immediate contrast of soft to heavy, vocals pretty much from the start. And while it gets going fast, it does lots of meandering yet remains cohesive, unlike a lot of the early, more through-composed stuff. Some of Mike's best songwriting imo.
