Not, best performances or favorite drummers mind you but drum performances that you find yourself airdrumming to whenever you spin that disc and which just compliment the music perfectly. Here's a few of my faves:

Lombardo- Seasons in the Abyss
Mikkey Dee- Abigail
Faust- In the Nightside Eclipse

For some reason the styles that these drummers use on these albums really click for me. How about you?

Those are good performances, but Mike Portnoy annihilates on Dream Theater's "Awake". I listened to that the other day & am always blown away when I zoom in on him. Even if you despise the band & wish them all miserable deaths you have to respect his drumming.

Nick Menza Megadeth "Rust in Peace"
The Four Drummers on :loco: The Faceless "Akeldama"
Pete Sandoval Morbid Angel "Formula's Fatal to the Flesh"
Gene Hoglan Death "Individual Thought Patterns"
Steve Flynn Atheist "Unquestionable Presence"

I find myself air drumming whenever I play Behemoth's Demigod album. Especially on Slaves Shall Serve... man, that's exhilarating.

Black Sabbath's Rat Salad is another fun song to air-drum to.

There are others, but it's 5:00 AM here and I can't name any off the top of my head at the moment.

I'm not one to have a good ear for superior drum performances. I mean a ton of my favorite bands use drum machines, but skillfully. Among these being Aborym (formerly), Limbonic Art, Samael, Summoning, Mysticum, Xasthur, and others.

My own band uses a drum machine, so I feel a personal connection to that, well, impersonal aspect of those bands.

And Kaga, change your sig for Christ's sakes.

Ian Paice - Machine Head
Nicklas Andersson - Clandestine
Vinnie Paul Abbott - Vulgar Display Of Power
Steve Flynn - Unquestionable Presence
Lars Ulrich - ..And Justice For All

ALWAYS Mike Smith...godly.

Danny Carey (Tool) on later material. Just awesome, perfect ability to flavor things up with great cymbal use and fills. Tomas Corn (Lykathea Aflame) is awesome too, super fast but flavorful too.

I ussually dont pay much attention to drumming or bass  . Two albums that caught my attention as far as the drumming are
Vital Remains - Dechristianize (Dave Suzuki)
Antaeus - CYFAWS (Storm)

Mike Portnoy on every DT album except I@W as I hate the triggered heads in metal
Kikou - Benighted.
Jason Rullo is good
