If I had to choose one, I'd probably go with Houes of the Holy or III. But I don't really want to choose.

Whoa, I'm retooded. :loco:

The Ocean is the first Zep I remember hearing, when I was taking a bath at 3 years old. 8 track in the tub baby!!! :kickass:

Ooh, trouble-free transmission, helps your oil’s flow
Mama, let me pump your gas, mama, let me do it all

I feel like a pimp just listening to that song.

More than any other band, Led Zeppelin established the concept of album-oriented rock, refusing to release popular songs from their albums as singles. In doing so, they established the dominant format for heavy metal, as well as the genre's actual sound.
I did not know that. [/Johnny Carson]

I think I heard Kashmir way too many times, that's my Stairway to Heaven (a song I never get sick of).

Come on, that irony can't be beat! :loco:

Regardless of whether you feel Kashmir is overplayed or not, seriously, go look at the tracklisting for Graffiti. There IS NO Zeppelin album that comes even close. It's a double album, as liz pointed out, with NO filler. It hits all bases. It's epic. It's soulful. It's passionate. It rocks harder than most bands will in their entire lifetimes, and it gives new meaning to the word "heavy."

It's the single greatest album EVER. There, I said it.

I would say this is true for the first 6 Zep albums, including Physical Graffiti. Some songs are slightly more amazing than others (Battle of Evermore, The Ocean, Trampled Under Foot, and about 20 others), but still. Damn were they one perfect band for a long fucking time.

and speaking of classic proto metal, I came within a hair's breadth today of ordering Deep Purple's "Burn"
I hope that's because you ordered Stormbringer instead! :D

I'm really not sure...I'd probably have to go with the compilation Early Days. I have I, II and IV but haven't given them dedicated listens. They're on vinyl, and I've neglected my record collection for the past few months due to growing paranoia about my needle
