Well , i agree with you all but what about the "classic drummers" ? Nicko Mc Brain , Mike Portnoy , Dave Lombardo , Lars Ulrich , Hellhammer , Ian Paice , Bill Ward , John Bauham , Keith Moon , Nick Menza , Igor Cavalera and a lot of others ?
There are an infinite number of great metal drummers who deserve "honorable mention", but tat the top, it is Lombardo, and only Lombardo. He is THE metal drummer, and Testament's The Gathering is his masterwork.
Tim Yeung - Decrepit Birth
Jarda Haz - Alienation Mental
John Longstreth - Origin
Keisuke Tsuboi - Vomit Remnants
Tony Laureano - Nile, Angelcorpse
Ricky Myers - Disgorge, Cinerary
Tomas Corn - Lykathea Aflame
Dave Haley - Psycroptic
Mike Hamilton - Deeds of Flesh, ex-Vile
My favourites are Matt McDonough (Mudvayne), Proscriptor McGovern (Absu, Melechesh), Andyan Gorust (Siksakubur), Lee (Commit Suicide), Horgh (Immortal, Grimfist).
favourite album drumwise.....has to be Absu's Tara.
My favourite drummer is obviously Daniel Zimmermann (from Gamma Ray and Freedom Call, and a few Iron Savior records).
I love his drumming in Gamma Ray's "Somewhere Out in Space" release! Awesome!! dugga-dugga-dugga-dugga!
