At the moment i'm really enjoying Tony Laureano on "In Their Darkened Shrines".
Me too. I seem to be listening to 'In Their Darkened Shrines' almost every other day.

My person favourites would be:
  • Inferno - 'Behemoth - Zos Kia Cultus: Here and Beyond'
  • Pete Sandoval - 'Morbid Angel - Gateways To Annihilation'
  • Tomas Haake - 'Meshuggah - Destroy. Erase. Improve'
  • Doc - 'Vader - Revelations'
  • Dirge Rep - 'Enslaved - Mardraum; Monumension; Below The Lights'
  • Hellhammer - 'Arcturus - The Sham Mirrors; Winds - Reflection of The I'
  • Gert Monden - 'In-Quest - Destination : Pyroclasm; Operation : Citadel; Epileptic'

Brann Dailor on Mastodon's only full-length Remission.
...as well as the Lifesblood EP

it's a choice of one out of four for me (can't be fucked deciding)...
Gene Hoglan, Trym Torson, Brann Dailor or Igor Cavelera.

Horgh - Anything Immortal
Horgh was only on 4 Immortal albums so far (At The Heart Of Winter, Blizzard Beasts, Damned In Black & Sons Of Northern Darkness), and they've released four albums without him. just to be pedantic :hotjump:

Brann Daylor Today is the Day/Mastodon- I worship his set

Gene Hoglan Dark Angel/Testament/SYL

Lombardo and Cavalera are also excellent choices- and probably the two most influential drummers i know of in metal. Who cant love Igor?

All of these guys are technically excellent, and play with emotion and their own eccentricities.

Jesus Christ, I can't believe I forgot Sean Reinert... thanks!

Also I would like to mention Hellhammer on De Mysteriis... his finest performance ever... fucking brilliant production and atmosphere...nothing matched since..

Drummers that over trigger everything is just annoying.. I understand the use of them sometimes, but when kickdrums sound like typewriters, its just stupid...

Brann Dailor - Mastodon
Horgh - grimfist and Immortal's-SOND, and Damned In Black
trym - prometheus
the dude with crazy sideburns from cephalic carnage....

I know buddy, but I said it in reference to his Immortal drumming... he has been in several other groups which he does not really try all that well in... not to mention his horrific choice to join Hypocracy...

Pete Sandoval - Morbid Angel
Dave Lambordo - Slayer
Nick Barker - Ex-Dimmu Borgir, Lock-Up: Personal opinions on Dimmu Borgir aside, Nick Barter is a king on drums, including blast-beats and double bass.
