This is to include vocalists. The human voice might make some weird voices when you puke or sneeze, and of course people communicate often with the human voice, but afaiac, a "singer" in a band is a musician. Here are my favorites:

vocalist: Andy Kuntz Vanden Plas/Ronald Padavona Dio. One day I WILL turn someone here into a Vanden Plas fanatic. They aren't oldschool, but if they weren't kick-ass..... I wouldn't fucking like them.

guitarist: Wolf Hoffmann/Jorn Viggo Lofstad. Two oldschool guys, but one is an oldschool guy in a new band. Jorn is only 27, but his style is mid-80's. Wolf is simply the fucking king !! His phrasing is incredible. I will elaborate more as this thread progresses if it does.

bassist: Francis Buccholz (Scorpions.) I'm not even a big Scorps fan, but he is the shit !!! Their soft power ballads were the antithesis of Accept yet they were more popular in the US. It didn't make me dislike them, but just left a sour taste in my mouth. Still, their bassist could run circles around most. What an artist, even during some silly sappy songs, he stood out.

drummer: Kirk Arrington (Metal Church)/ Stian Kristoffersen (Pagans Mind) rip !!! Lombardo, Larkin, and V. Paul are also very close runners.

keyboards: I'm not big into keyboards unless it is Gunter werno. He is the Vanden Plas kb player and he pretty much kills the compoetition. I take that back..... I did like the early Yngwie when Jens Johansen was the keyboard player, but Gunter kills him.

Producer: Dieter Dirks (Accept, Scorps) John "Mutt" Lange (Def Lep, AC/DC)

I limited only to rock/metal outfits. If we start with jazz, classic, etc...:loco:

P.S. I probably left a lot of people off, but my brain is numb right now.

voc. king d., rob h., schmier, to name some
guit. e.peterson, k.king,
bass coroner, dont break the oath
drums, not really into drumming, I am satisfied if it is decent and fast.

another one to think about!

vocalist-no question,i've already raged about him tonight.CHRIS CORNELL IS GOD.the man has a voice and style that just blow me away.anyone who thinks differently should just listen to jesus christ pose.you cant ask more from a rock/metal singer than that.
layne staley also figures v.highly,as does chuck billy from testament, just for his cool tone.

rythm guitarist wise, its gotta be hetfield...the early years.those first 4 metallica albums rythmically were just awsome, and its all down to him.

lead guitarist for me is jeff waters from annihilator.i just love his style.

bass players-the lord cliff burton obviously, but i really like what les claypool from primus plays.very way out.also flea.funky as you like.

drummers-for thrashy stuff, its lombardo all the way-i'll say it again for the 50th time on this forum, but when he did the gathering with testament he just completed the band.he is awsome.
also awsome is ted parsons from prong.for me a really complete drummer-impeccable timing from an age before pro tools-you drummers know what i mean!!!!
finally drum wise is stuart copeland from the police.his drumming is just unreal.

keyboards.hmmmm...the guy from faith no more.
and the extremely sexy keyboard player from a death metal band called annoyance that we used to gig with.more the low cut tops and cut down denim shorts than the actual keyboard playing though. :D
