"When can I take you from this place?
When is the word but a sigh?
When is death our lone beholder?
When do we walk the final steps?
When can we scream instead of whisper?
When is the new beginning,
the end of this sad madrigal."
That's one of my favorite parts EVER! Also some of my favorite lyrics.
Aside from that part, I rarely look up lyrics when it comes to Opeth, so I usually just sing along the ones that I can make out. In "Wreath," I ALWAYS growl "THERE IS NO ABSOLUTION!!!!!" And then the cymbal fill Lopez does afterwards is so fucking perfect. I love that part to death. I always catch myself banging my fist along with each syllable of that line. So fucking powerful...
Heh, anyway, another part I always sing along to is the "I will endure, hide away. I would outrun the scythe, glaring with failure..." That's another one of my alltime favorite parts.
Another part that I absolutely adore is "DARKNESS BY HER SIDE!" from "Ghost of Perdition." That part never fails to make me headbang.
This part is the part that first made me love Opeth. From "Bleak": "Devious movements in your eyes
Moved me from relief
Breath comes out white clouds with your lies
And filters through me
You're close to the final word
You're staring right past me in dismay
A liquid seeps from your chest
And drains me away
Mist ripples round your thin white neck
And draws me a line
Cold fingers mark this dying wreck
This moment is mine..."
I also sing along to pretty much every song on Damnation, since I can actually make out the lyrics to those. (Plus, I probably listened to it 1000 times in a row as soon as I got it.)
And finally, I sing along to all the clean parts of "Godhead's Lament," which is quite possibly the best song ever written.
Hooray for Opeth!
