favorite recent horror

Drag Me to Hell, yep. I agree Zombieland isn't really horror, but I really enjoyed that one too.

Never bothered seeing Quarantine, the previews looked too much like REC and I figured it couldn't be any better. I wouldn't be surprised if the ending in REC wasn't in Quarantine. They probably thought it was too disturbing for the US audience.

Wow, Warrel's post made me realize how out of the loop I am with horror films. The most recent film I saw and liked was the Rob Zombie Halloween.

Quarantine sucked ass monkey fucking BALLS! When they switched to nightvision at the end of the movie, I knew right away based on the previews I saw and the fucking COVER art what was going to happen. I may a bit more upset than I should be about that, but most of the movie was so damned predictable for me that I could hardly pay attention. Have not seen REC though, so I'm hoping it's better somehow.

Drag Me To Hell was a bit hokey, but it's more than I expected out of Raimi after all this time, and I was quite pleased. Like Warrel said, no sunshine up your ass bullshit ending. I loved the ending just because of that.

Zombieland is by far the best horror/comedy type thing I've seen since Shaun of the Dead, and I just watched both of those last night (Zland for the first time finally).

Saw VI is completely out of the question for me, as was Saw III, IV, and V. Same with both Hostel's. Those movies just don't grab me at all, they seem like they go nowhere as the methods of killing (which I will give you are very clever and fun) are the focal point and the plot line takes a back seat. If I wanna watch a movie for individual scenes and not a plotline, I'll watch a porno.

Haven't seen The Box yet, but the premise of it really intrigues me. May have to wait for a DVD release, but I will certainly watch that one.

Incidentally, I watched Tetsuo: The Iron Man for the first time ever last month and I really don't understand all the hype. I can't consider something that random and trite even a cult classic. I think I got 15min into it and it turned into background noise for reading a book. Caught snippets of it every once in a while but couldn't pay attention to it. You know it's bad when you can watch only a fractured partial of the movie and still understand everything going on. The book was far more entertaining (Dreamweaver, only on chapter 3 though)

The Box is definitely well worth the price of a movie ticket.

hah!!

Thats why I was asking if I should even bother with Saw 6...
While I loved the couple of first ones, the latest one was so redundant..

Yeah, I have to check The Box out.

Lol Derick and I came up with this really silly scene that should be in a Saw movie. The person wakes up inside a bomb, hands & feet completely bound, no way to get them free. Their head is also stuck so they cant move it at all. However, in front of the person's mouth is a button that will set them free and deactivate the bomb. The only thing they can use to push it with is their tongue.

BUT, oh no, their tongue has been sewn to their lips! Like, really sewn to their lips, so much they can't just pull them free. So they have to chew through their lips, careful not to chew through their tongue, so they can free their tongue and push the button. LAWL.

Am I the only one that's seen the house of the devil? It's such a great 80's style babysitter in peril from evil satanists throwback movie, I loved it, slow buildup, big payoff ending and tons of blood

I thought it was a pile of wank, to be honest. I was pretty bored by the end, but I was glad that bitch got dragged to hell (which was the desired response, of course).

Cool, I'm gonna see Zombieland tonight.

I've only seen Saw I. The script was good, but the acting was lame at times.
So... The other ones are crap? I really can't stand when they overproduce some concept films...

Drag me to Hell is indeed awesome. I'd recomment it to anyone, although Warrel kind of ruined the ending, and we're all eternally grateful for that. Spoiled or not, you should watch it, it's way too good.

Saw 6...well, I saw it the other day and I was really disappointed. Saw 1, 2 and 3 were awesome. They were more than just splatter. The rest of them are just senseless splatter with pseudomoral lessons here and there. But still, it's a good movie since it keeps you on edge.

I gotta try the rest that were suggested here. Oh, and by the way, [REC] 2 is out. I laughed my ass off with the first one, I HAVE to see the second one.
