Favorites thus far.

I'm sure DsO will put out one song on some dumb split that no one will acquire. I hate how all these elite bands are trying so hard to erode "the album." Just stop with the fucking splits already.

Favorite spin of the year so far - Witchery - Don't Fear The Reaper

Also enjoyed the following

Venom - Metal Black
Demiricous - One
Dismember - The God That Never Was
One Man Army - 21st Century Killing Machine
Sadus - Out For Blood
Bloodthorn - Genocide
Kataklysm - In The Arms of Devastation
Vital Remains - Horrors of Hell
Wyrd - The Ghost Album

Devin Townsend Band "Synchestra"
Miles Davis "Cellar Door Sessions" 6CD Box
I haven't heard more because Miles ruined me :(

This year the only leaked release I've heard is Katatonia' The great cold distance and it is a good album there a better band than Opeth, so I dont know why Metal Hammer said the niche was already occupied by Opeth,But they also said the album was called The great cold divide so dont believe them.

Wyrd - The Ghost Album

Those two albums are just terrible.

I can still see me playing both in 6 months time. Each to their own.

I got sick of those albums before they were even finished the first run through.

I suspect the Kataklysm will fall off my play list first, but the Demiricous just does all the right things for me.

well the two 2005 splits songs were from an old 2003 recordings...in 2006 dso is supposed to release the second part of the SMRC trilogy, i hope it won't be too avantgarde like kenose, i kinda hated that EP.

It was an album filled with enless chuggah riffs then a half ass thrash riff that can be compared to a slayer rip off.

Slayer Rip off??? Not a chance. I haven't heard anything on the new cd that reminds me of Slayer (been listening to Slayer for over 20 years, so should know their sound by now). Ok Kataklysm will never doing anything particularly original, then again originality within DM is fucking rare.

I agree here. Nothing original but very well done and very enjoyable. The blast beats were especially good. And like Wyrd1, I didn't here any direct Slayer rip offs.

Well, it's not just DsO with the splits. They're hardly the worst offender. I hope the second part is certainly more similar to SMRC, which was far superior to Kenose. I think they're definitely better suited to shorter songs, but I haven't heard those lengthy ones from the splits. I did like that there were less vocals on Kenose. The vocalist never shuts up on SMRC. I can't think of another album with too much vocals.

Valkyrie - Valkyrie
Witchfinder General - Live '83'
Pentagram - First Daze Here Too

I haven't heard the entire Wolves In The Throne Room yet but the one song I did hear is excellent.

You are wrong about this album. It reminds me of a fake Immolation album.

Am I wrong about it? I mean I love it, even if I for some reason don't like Immolation.
