Diamond/Dimebag whatever man, He kicks ass, kicked ass and will always kick ass. He was metal from beginning to the end, died doing what he loved to do. He never made a bad song,and wrote some of the best licks ever. Unlike a lot of guitarists, he was always evolving and experimenting with different things to keep it fresh and real, and always badass. if ony Zack was 1/10th as good as dime when he was 18...

Yea dimebag good, i have been a little anti-dimebag with all the dimebag worship, but when i sit down and think about it i really do enjoy his playing.


and yea im glad we both agree that zack wylde needs to learn to more then runing pentatonic and pinch harmonics...

Zakk Wylde is the reason I dont use Pinch Harmonics. I like his playing, but he sucks all the pinch harmonics out of the atmosphere.

I love harmonics but I use them in more unorthadox ways such as slide and pre bent ones..of course my favorite has to be the pinch on the high E right before a fast decending run...

Yeah Dime had a huge ass following, but he truly deserved it, unlike Zack.

- Eddie Van Halen (not considered a shredder in my book... just in case some do !!!)

I am happy someone mentioned Edward. He isn't in my top ten, but certainly in my top 25. He definitely is a top ten (probably top 5) guy when it comes to influencing "modern metal guitar" though. Despite turning into a prick as of ohhh.... the last 20 years, the guy revolutionized guitar in his heyday.

I'll be the first to admit zack overuses the pinch harmonics to the nth degree and isn't one of my faves, but I saw him live on "No Rest for the Wicked" tour and he might have had the absolute best live guitar tone I have ever heard in my life. I wanted to storm the stage and steal his rig, but I figured I couldn't run too fast with a couple of racks and stacks. In all seriousness though, his tone was to die for. My mouth was hung open for the first couple of songs and that was many years ago.
