Mine's gotta be Nemesis by Cradle of Filth.

Tonight is the night
The empowering wind that draws breath from despise
Roars ‘neath my wings as I soar with the end in sight

Choirs ignite
A swansong for Leda
Deathknells for Troy
Tragedy blooms from one act
I am nemesis

Poured in my arms
When my daughter’s eyelids closed
I swore to slaughter those
Who stole my ray of moonlight

So strike up the skies
The diction of thunder
God-given rites
No fiction can deafen the fact
I am nemesis

Cowled in the utter grief
I am the priest of a new disorder
Whose flag unfurled
Bears a hatred for the western world

There is no compromise
No piped lament
To stay the blind
Just a shrike cacophony of war

Ashes ember, fires rise
No longer am I paralyzed
Now I drown in a loss worth fighting for

Black is my heart
Black is my heart
Black is my heart
I am nemesis

Black is my heart
Black is my heart
Black is my heart
I am nemesis
Nemesis
Nemesis

Tonight is the night
The city sweats fever, the filth in her womb
Shifts like the season’s unease at the hands of doom

Restless inside
Her split underbelly
Suitored with flies
Marital bowels now contract
I am nemesis

Poured in my arms
When my daughter’s eyelids closed
I swore to slaughter those
Who stole my ray of moonlight
Never again
Our enemies entertained
I toy at the clasp of her chain
And remember the fight

Cowled in utter grief
I am the priest of a new disorder
Whose flag unfurled
Bears a hatred for the western world

There is no compromise
No piped lament to stay the blind
Just a shrike cacophony of war

Ashes ember, fires rise
No longer am I Palestined
Now I drown in a loss worth fighting for

Black is my heart
Black is my heart
Black is my heart
I am nemesis (X4)

I'm a big fan of Tool's lyrics. I think Metallica's One is brilliant. Pantera's
War Nerve is also a favorite of mine. I like Opeth's lyrics also. There are a few songs on Lamb of God's Ashes of the Wake that I like lyrically.

Honestly, I rarely read or look up metal lyrics, because I'm afraid that I'm not going to like them. For me, lyrics play a large riles in music, and if they are really bad, its hard for me to ignore them (it is very annoying, being a prog fan). Like the Cradle of Filth lyrics . . . those type of "evil" lyrics just aren't my thing, even though I will admit it is creative.

Behemoth's lyrics are amazing. Here's the lyrics from Conquer All-

Mightiest Self!
Cast out ov thy Elysium
With blood ov nazarene
I write the history ov man
2000 years is nothing
though it has been enough
Come forth victorious
muting the foul angelic choirs!

None ov thy empty gods, shall ever stand above me
None ov thy weak brothers, shalt ever share my blood
My awareness, catalyst, ov godhate I have spawned
In sinister ecstasy eternally I decompose

Race ov man!
The errors ov a wise man make thy rules
Te shall see
Rather than the perfection ov the fool
The most divine!
I am many, among so very few
Beyond redemption, beyond the weak
thus I beheld the truth!

None ov thy empty gods, shall ever stand above me
None ov thy weak brothers, shalt ever share my blood
My awareness, catalyst, ov godhate I have spawned
In sinister ecstasy eternally I'm decomposed

I am the pure flame that burns
I am (ever shining) Sirius son
I am the infinite space
I am the most conquering one

F*cking brutal stuff :headbang:

I don't know about my favorite lyrics ever, but these have most recently kicked my ass:

Lamb of God: In Your Words

A sacred cash cow with sickly tits
Dripping temptation for hypocrites
To death she's beaten
The prosperous endlessly stating the obvious

Caught in your words sever the knot this time
Somebody show me their true face
Face me once as I leave all that I despise
Face me as I unleash this hate refined

Indict the blameless
Transparent designs
Pathetic and shameless
Crucified
A legend in his own mind, enthroned by lies
A cheap Machiavelli plots his demise

Caught in your words sever the knot this time
Somebody show me their true face
Face me once as I leave all that I despise
Face me as I unleash this hate refined
Face me as I leave all this far behind
Face me as I unleash this hate refined

What once gave life
Now infested with plague
A lamb lies with maggots
Blinded, gagged, betrayed

What once gave life
Now infested with plague
A lamb lies with maggots
The corpse bloated with rage

i devastate your life
and crush your every dream
no human being will perceive your silent scream
the king of rapture will betray your soul tonight
this life of yours is soon to end in brutal death

don't look me in the eyes if you're awake
just a glimpse of me will put your life at stake <---:D
i'm the horizon
i'm the serpent of the dead
my gaze will burn your skin and flesh into a crisp

LIKE FIRE...

LIKE FIRE!

LIKE FIIIIRRRE

this very morbid mind of mine
will set your course into and early grave
i twist your fate and seal your doom
i bit you welcome - my eternal slave

- Bloodbath

Conquer All-

I was gonna post that. :kickass:
Also, I love the lyrics to Amon Amarth's The Sound of Eight Hooves.

He's running through the woods so black
A loyal servant of Christ
Dogs are barking down his back
He's running for his life

He came with words of love and peace
These heathens had to be saved
He thought that he could make them see
Instead he was enslaved

In captivity he spoke of god
To all he met he preached
But when his master's patience ran out
He knew he had to flee

Tears are running down his cheeks
As he sobbign realizes
That in this land his god is weak
And today he's going to die

He stumbles out onto an open field
Where an old oak tree grows
In the branches hang men of three
Dressed in preacher robes

His knees refuse to carry him on
Terror shines in his eyes
His faith in Christ is almost gone
His god's left him to die
Below the dead he says his prayers
To the god he thought was alive
When he hears a calm voice say:
"SHUT HIM UP AND HANG HIM HIGH!"

As his breath leaves his eyes open wide
A bright light comes from above
He greets this light with a smile
And thinks: "There is a God"

The sound of eight hooves reaches his ears
Comes from the heavenly light
Two wolves' howls fill his heart with fear
And he sees two ravens fly
Down from the sky a warlord rides
Like fire his one eye glows
And just before the preacher dies
He knows his god is false

I really dig the story-telling here. My favorite part is the last 12 lines; during the "As his breath...There is a God" part the music is more uplifting and Johan's vocals sound hopeful; then the riff changes and "The sound of eight hooves" comes in and it's like he's hopeful but we know he's fucked or something. It's hard to describe, but it's one of my favorite moments in any Amon Amarth song.

Also.
One man rode the way through the woods
Down to Asa bay
Where dragon ships had sailed to sea
More times than one could say
To see with own eyes the wonder
People told of from man to man
The God of all almightyness
Had arrived from a foreign land

The rumours told of a man
Who had come from the other side the seas
Carrying gold cross around neck in chain
And spoke in strange tongue of peace
He had come with strange men in armour
Dressed in purple shirts and lace
Smelling not of beer but flowers
And with no hair in face

And the bold man carrying cross
Had told all one of Asa bay
The God of all man woman child had come
To them all save
And to thank Lord of Heaven
One should build to God a house
And to save one's soul from Hell
One should be baptised and say vows

A man of pride with the Hammer told new God
To build his house on own
And spoke loud of the Gods of their fathers
Not too long time gone
The rumours said the man with a beard like fire
And the Hammer in chain
By men in armour silenced was and by
Their swords was slain

Those who did not pay the one coin
Of four to man of new God
Whipped was twenty and put in chains then locked
By their neck to the log (To the log...)
And so all of Asa bay did build
A house of the cross
Every hour of daylight they did sweat
Limbs ached because faith does cost

And on the day two hundred
There it stood white to the sky
The house of the God of the cross
Big enough to take two dragon ships inside
And all of Asa bay did watch
The wonder raise to the sky
Now must the God of the cross be pleased
And satisfied

Just outside the circle of the crowd
One old man did stand
He looked across the waters
And blotted the sun out of his eyes with one hand
And his old eyes could almost see
The dragon ships set sail
And his old ears could almost hear
Men of great numbers call out Oden's hail

And though he did know already
Though he turned face towards sky
And whispered silent words forgotten
Spoken only way up high
Now this house of a foreign God does stand
Now must they leave us alone
Still he heard from somewhere in the woods
Old crow of wisdom say
...people of Asa land, it's only just begun...
Again, great storytelling. Also, Quorthon's ending scream is amazing. My favorite song, ever.

Yeah, I like those a lot. . . I love concepts in lyrics. I'll have to check out Amon Amarth and Quorthon. I've heard of Amon Amarth.

Shortcut hair in sight, no words are needed to start the fight
All disco-dance must end in broken bones
Enough to get him pissed, count the teeth you soon shall miss
Footprints in your swollen face shows the way it must be done

Gehennah - Hardrocker

Again, great storytelling. Also, Quorthon's ending scream is amazing. My favorite song, ever.

Kiuas' "And the North Star Cried" has always seemed to be inspired by "One Road To Asa Bay" (and Emperor, while we're at it ) :

Long ago when the gods were still young and guarded the heavens
With might the four furious winds swept across the snows
Proud, fearless and free the children of Ukko walked the Earth
And at dusk they sang anthems to the welkin and their beloved North Star

...And still she smiled upon the Earth

Through these lands of ice the North Star once led our way
Now blood covers the frozen ground
Scarred by an eerie sound as the North Star cries in pain

On the darkest of winters evil arrived from across the sea
Disguised as a wooden cross - as the coming of salvation
Death and destruction they brought and clashes of steel filled the nights
And the North Star watched as the blood of her children flowed

...And her tears fell upon the Earth

Our fathers' blood was spilled on the ice
And the North Star cried in the night
Our beloved gods were violently droven to exile
Gone are the days of the North Star's reign
Now her tears are all that remain
But one day they'll wash the blood away
and the spirit that once died
Shall rise again!

These are some of my favorite lyrics. Definitely not the same depth as Quorthon's storytelling, but great nonetheless.

Some Agalloch lyrics are great

"Here at the edge of this world
Here I gaze at a pantheon of oak, a citadel of stone
If this grand panorama before me is what you call God. . .
Then God is not dead"
- In the shadow of our pale companion

Opeth - Demon of the fall

Just one second, and I was left with nothing.
Her fragrance still pulsating through damp air...
The day came to an end and she had lost in me, her Credence...

Dream Theater - Lines in the Sand
Sometimes, for a moment of bliss
And the passion, we're craving
There's a message we miss
Sometimes when the spirits left alone
We must believe in something
To find if we've grown

Tragic reflex, shattered calm
Static progress, senses gone
Numb awareness, final psalm

Swept away with the tide
Through the holes in my hands
Crown of thorns at my side
Drawing lines in the sand

Sometimes, if you're perfectly still
You can hear the virgin weeping
For the savior of your will
Sometimes, your castles in the air
And the fantasies you're seeking

Are the crosses you bear

Sacred conflict, blessed prize
Weeping crosses, stainless eyes
Desperate addict, faith disguised

Swept away with the tide
Through the holes in my hands
Crown of thorns
At my side drawing lines in the sand

We fabricate our demons
Invite them into our homes
Have supper with the aliens
And fight the war alone
We conjure up our skeletons
Enlist the den of thieves
Frightened from our closets
Then sewn upon our sleeves

In the stream of consciousness
There is a river crying
Living comes much easier

Once we admit
We're dying

Sometimes, in the wreckage of our wake
There's a bitterness we harbor
And hate for hatred's sake
Sometime we dig an early grave
And crucify our instincts
For the hope we couldn't save

Sometimes a view from sinless eyes
Centers our perspective
And pacifies our cries
Sometimes the anguish we survive
And the mysteries we nurture
Are the fabrics of our lives

Swept away with the tide
Through the holes in my hands
Crown of thorns
At my side drawing lines in the sand

And of course Bloodbath - Eaten
I've had one desire since I was born
To see my body ripped and torn
To see my flesh devoured before my eyes
I'm here for you I volunteer as a human sacrifice

[CHORUS]
Carve me up, slice me apart
Suck my guts, lick my heart
Chop me up I like to be hurt
Drink my marrow and blood for dessert
EATEN... My one desire, my only wish is to be--
EATEN... The longer I live the more I'm dying to feel the pain
EATEN... I would do anything to be--
EATEN... My one desire, my only wish is to be--
EATEN...

I finally found you, my personal slaughter
As an appetizer, I let you taste my daughter
Call me sick but this is what I need
My only purpose here is for you to feed

Desecrate me
Tear me limb from limb
Eviscerate me
Chew me to death

Sine when can a song or an album -scream-? This is not hard to figure out.

Gee, I don't know, maybe at the END of the song or album, as VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV said. Is it a name of the singer? How the fuck am I supposed to know? Oh, right, Google it. God forbid someone just answers the question rather than put in those infinitely witty comments like "facepalm."

If you haven't googled it yet Quorthon is the man behind Bathory, one of the greatest men ever to live. I think on this forum most assume everyone knows who Quorthon is. You should read up on some rudimentary facts of extreme metal so you aren't lost all the time.

Quorthon was an NFL player who had to quit because he suffered a broken toe. Rather than follow in Bob Marley's footsteps and die, he saught medical treatment and survived. That inspired him to become a neurosurgeon (no one really knows why). After performing several successful surgeries, tragedy struck when he ended up killing the wife of his best friend. He hit her with his car while driving drunk. It wasn't the car wreck that killed her; but Quorthon proceeded to attempt a surgery there in the middle of the street, without any equipment whatsoever, while still drunk. He was stricken with grief and guilt over her death, and so turned to black metal. This lasted for several dark, suicidal years. When at last he overcame his depression he turned to viking metal to convey his sense of triumph, and he continued in this triumphant vein (for the most part) until his death while hunting quail.
