it would be funny if someone mentioned glenn danzig.

Why? The stuff Danzig has done, slays most of the crap on other peoples lists.

I'm suprised whoever it was mentioned Glenn Benton for 'Vital Remains, considering he has only done one album with them, compared to the squillion he has released with Deicide.

also, sknights list had some great thrash vocalists on it.

anyhow;

Danzig
Tomas Lindberg - At the Gates
Matt Chalk - Psycroptic
Chuck Schuldiner - Death
Tomi Koivusaari - Amorphis
Von Demonicus - Arghoslent
Ares - Aeternus
KK Warslut - Destroyer 666
Johan Hegg - Amon Amarth
Chuck Billy - early Testament
Tom Araya - early Slayer vocals
Bruce Dickinson - Solo and Maiden
Rob Halford - Judas Priest
Mille Petrozza - Kreator
Burton C Bell - early Fear Factory

Matt Barlow - Iced Earth
Late Hetfield (say what you will about the music, I think his voice peaked on S&M)
Mikael A
Mikael Stanne - Dark Tranquillity
Paul Kuhr - Novembers Doom + Subteranean Masquerade
Warrel Dane
Dude from Quo Vadis

I think Hetfield peaked during "justice". Not the singing, but the 'screaming'.

Well, yeah, he did sound more pissed off during that time, but I think that in the Garage era, he added a lot of emotion to his voice.

Yeah, Cornell could really belt it out back then. "Jesus Christ Pose", "Rusty Cage"...sometimes hurt my throat to listen. He mellowed really fast.

Seth

That got me thinking. Layne Staley (as Alice in Chains were considered metal) had the most powerful voice of his time.

:guh: :waah:  wow

it pains me to hear his live voice after, ohhh around the s/t album. i dunno what possessed him to do what he does now: "master of puppets i'm pulling your stri-iihhhh--ihhh-ihhhngs." well that doesn't do it justice but you guys know what i'm talking about, he makes the songs sound ridiculous, vocally.

lessee... Mike Akerfeldt definitely tops my list, followed by Jonas renkse, both old and new, Blakkheim, Bruce Dickinson, the dude from Hammerfall, the dude from Dolorian, and a bunch of others.
