The tainted dogmas

That riff is one of Opeth's best moments.

Can't believe I'm the first to mention this. If we're talking about the heavy riffs, "To Bid You Farewell" - 7:13 or so onward. In the context of the entire song before it, I find it very moving.

Has to be the first heavy riff in Blackwater Park after the quiet bit.............when the heavy riff comes back in, think it's about 5:14, then the drums kick in and fuck me the groove!!!! :D:D:D:D

Advent 02:06
Under The Weeping Moon 00:56
Bleak 00:20
Intro of The Baying Of The Hounds

Top 5:

1. Blackwater Park (2:47-5:13)
2. Moonlapse Vertigo (7:15-end)
3. By The Pain I See In Others (3:32-5:02)
4. Godhead's Lament (3:43-5:51)
5. The Night And The Silent Water (1:00-2:11)

The only one people might not agree with is By The Pain I See In Others. The song as a whole isn't one of Opeth's bests, but that riff between 3:32 and 5:02 is phenomenal.

the stream riff from BRI + the following heavy riff, also the two big riffs around 15 minutes.
the first acoustic riff in BTPISIO
the Moor, basically all the riffs in it.
most of the riffs in Advent
the one in Karma after the "aaaaaaahhh"
the main riff in TBYF
the big heavy riff in BWP after the interlude

this what came to mind this time

Hessian Peel. Just after the 4 minute mark - the first heavy guitars of the song.
