female vocals

i'm trying out The Gathering "If Then Else" right now. It seems nice for that genre for sure. I'll comment more when i'm sure if it's okay or good :)

I'd also recommend their latest, "Home", which is a totally amazing album. I've listened to The Gathering since they released "Always", but it wasn't until when Anneke joined the band that I REALLY started to enjoy their music.

Other female vocals I enjoy:

Anneke van Giersbergen (The Gathering)
Anneli Drecker (Bel Canto)
Liv Kristine Espenaes (Theatre Of Tragedy(old))
Kari Rueslåtten (The 3rd and the Mortal(old))
Ann-Mari Edvardsen (The 3rd and the Mortal)
Anna Ternheim
Emma Nordenstam
Stina Nordenstam
Maire Brennan (Clannad)
Björk
Loreena McKennitt
Linda Perhacs
Elizabeth Fraser (Cocteau Twins)
Beth Gibbons (Portishead)
Jenny Hval (Shellyz Raven)
Tori Amos

Go with Mandylion. The guitars are still heavy and doomy.

Beth Gibbons, Billie Holliday, Chan Marshall, Amy Winehouse, Bjork, Mariza, Tori Amos, Fiona Apple, Christina Aguilers (yes, you read right), Etta James, Anneke van Giersbergen, Merry Clayton, Joni Mitchell, Shirley Manson, Alison Goldfrapp, Kate Bush, Martha Wainwright, Roisin Murphy, Sia Furler, Ming Xia... that should be it.
Excellent List, LQ

not mentioned:
Eva Cassidy...most pristene voice to ever hit my ears...
Bebel Gilberto...can't stop listening to her self titled disc of late...
Alison Krauss..loved her vocals and acoustic bluegrass guitar driven styles for ages.
