Metal bands with female singers that I like

Yes, I've had the pleasure to meet her (and the guys in the band) a few times... Great people, great music...

I can't wait for the Latin American dates of The Gathering... Thinking of going to Mexico to catch a show or two... ;)
I still haven't seen the new line up live!!

That is true, I wonder if there are any other power chick bands out there.....hmmmm teh interwebs go!
I'll save you a little bit of the trouble.

The women of metal get much love from me, but the women of power metal are really where my heart lies. Not every female metal singer has to sound like she belongs at the opera. (For the most part, I'd actually prefer that they didn't.) Some of the better, more powerful bands with female singers, IMO:

Benedictum - I think they were already mentioned on this thread, but oh well, they deserve another mention, heavy metal from the West coast, really powerful debut album, "Uncreation," with an excellent follow up "Seasons of Tragedy." This band is slowly working their way into my top metal bands of all time, www.bendictum.net, www.myspace.com/benedictum

Crystal Viper - power metal from Poland, think Virgin Steele with a Leather Leone-esque female singer, hmmm... maybe I shouldn't have said that given Virgin Steele's reception at PP a few years ago, oh well, I think Crystal Viper is amazing! http://www.myspace.com/crystalviperofficial

Chastain - although defunct now, since I mentioned Leather Leone, I have to mention the fabulous and powerful Chastain, who later acquired Kate French (Vainglory) as their replacement singer after Leather left the business; David Chastain has moved on with his own solo projects and, sadly, it is unlikely that we will see this group reunited anytime soon

Vainglory - another great metal band with powerful female vocals courtesy of Kate French, http://www.myspace.com/vainglorymetal

Shadowside - Brazilian heavy metal with powerful female vocals, www.shadowside.ws

Triosphere – Melodic heavy metal from Norway, www.myspace.com/triosphere

Blood Corps - these folks are a local for my area, but their energy and intensity, not to mention their singer's kick ass vocal ability, made me love them the first time I ever heard them ... heavy, power, melodic metal, http://www.bloodcorps.com/ , http://www.myspace.com/bloodcorpsmusic

A Sound of Thunder - if Blood Corps' sound is a little too mainstream for you, their singer is also involved in another project that more strongly engages the power metal fan in me, http://www.asoundofthunderband.com/ , http://www.myspace.com/asoundofthunderband

Power's Court - epic power metal from here in the US, I believe their singer might also be the lead guitarist and main songwriter, http://www.myspace.com/powerscourt

A.D.D. - short for Analog Digital Disorder, I cannot get enough of this powerful hard rocking band from the suburbs of Chicago, they may be more on the rock side of things, but that hasn't stopped their debut album from being in my CD player almost non-stop for the last 2-3 months, the songs are catchy and the writing is beautiful and lyrics are the kind that really speak to a person, http://www.myspace.com/addloud

Zed Yago - another great powerful band with female vocals that has been around for quite some time, www.zed-yago.com , www.myspace.com/officialzedyago

Dreamaker - Dreamaker begun when the female vocalist Elisa Martin, guitarist Albert Maroto and drummer Jorge Saez left Dark Moor in 2003, another beautifully powerful and melodic band that reminds me of Beautiful Sin, http://www.myspace.com/dreamakerhome

Girlschool - who can forget the female Motorhead? Not exactly power metal but they've been kicking asses since most of the bands/singers I just mentioned were in diapers. Props to the women who paved the way! http://www.girlschool.co.uk/ , http://www.myspace.com/girlschool1

I could go on and on since I live and breathe this stuff, but I'll take a break here.

Edit: This thread has now been sentenced to certain death. ;) j/k

BlackRoseMetalHeart - I haven't heard of a good number of the bands you mentioned, so I have a few to check out now. Woo! Though I do love operatic voices, it is nice to hear a good wailer (a la Floor's non-operatic vocals.) Benedictum is one of my favs. Would love to see them at ProgPower some time. :)

For fans of Tristania...I'm surprised that no one has mentioned Trail of Tears. Disclosure in Red was great.

There was another French Band that sites Tristania as a heavy influence...Ad Vitam Aeternum...Abstract Senses yielded a couple of great songs.

Crimfall- Beauty and the Beast Folkish Gothic Metal. Black Metal styled male vox.

Trail of Tears- Blackened Gothic Metal without the folk influences. I only have "Bloodstained Endurance" so far. That will change soon.

Old White Skull- They just returned to female vox with a new singer, but she's not as good as Federica de Boni IMO. The Federica era is best described as a female version of Grave Digger, as her voice is very gruff for a woman. Best Albums: Tales from the North. Public Glory Secret Agony

Coronatus- Two Female singers. One operatic the other traditional. A mix of English and German songs. Their first two CD's are good, but their newest album samples are a bit lacking.

Sirenia- Classical Beauty and the Beast with Death styled male vox. A revolving door of female vocalits. I prefer their earlier works (At Sixes And Sevens, An Elixir for Existence). Their newer albums are more like Lacuna Coil knockoffs.

Tristania- Similar to Sirenia, and have shared members across their discographies. Tristania have an added element of mixed growls and the haunting styled Gothic male vox à la Poisonblack or To/Die/For. Favorite: Beyond The Veil

Kerion- A female version of Rhapsody.

Battlelore- Tolken influenced Gothic Folk Metal. Typical Beauty and the Beast vox lately, but cleaner Trashy male vox earlier. Favotites: Sword's Song. The Last Alliance.

Rock Goddess...now that's going WAY back:loco: Hell Hath No Fury was a good song.

You want to include in that group Saraya, Femme Fatale but those bands were more 80's hard rock. (that's hilariious Metalsped...I just noticed your post about Saraya). Femme Fatale had a couple of big hits including Falling In and Out of Love and Waiting for the Big One.

Yeah, Rock Goddess used to be the Into Eternity of the early NWOBHM scene especially in Scandinavia. I have probably seen them live 10 times opening for various bands. I also saw them headline at the legendary Marquee Club over @ Wardour Street in London at least once. Awesome live act and fun to party with after the shows...:kickass:

I really like Todesbonden.
I can't believe I missed your post before, but I'm really glad you mentioned this band, Mike. Todesbonden has such a unique blend of heaviness and melody with a great array of styles not typically explored by those in metal, not to mention they are an incredibly hard working group of talented individuals. I'm also a sucker for Laurie's incredible vocal abilities and the singing styles she draws from are certainly one of the things that makes this band so unique. http://www.todesbonden.us/, http://www.myspace.com/todesbonden
Old White Skull- They just returned to female vox with a new singer, but she's not as good as Federica de Boni IMO. The Federica era is best described as a female version of Grave Digger, as her voice is very gruff for a woman. Best Albums: Tales from the North. Public Glory Secret Agony
I do enjoy the Federica de Boni era of White Skull a lot. A friend of mine and Nick's (DotW) likened them in almost exactly the same way to Grave Digger and that's how we got into them. I was incredibly disappointed when I bought a White Skull album at PP one year only to listen to it on the ride home and find out it was one of the albums with a male vocalist. (Not that he was bad, just not what I was hoping for.)
Have anyone mentioned Rock Goddess? Not the best on record but they sure tore it up live...
Rock Goddess ... http://www.myspace.com/traceylambsrockgoddesspage, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock_Goddess
Not to be confused with Rockbitch .... http://www.rockbitch.tv/, http://www.myspace.com/rockbitchfans , http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rockbitch
... As I almost did when I first read your entry, and who also tore it up live, but in very different ways.
I don't think anyone has mentioned Angtoria yet. Fantastic band, but they only have one album out, as far as I know. I'd like them to release more. And if anyone is interested, the singer, Sarah Jezebel Deva (who has also been in in Cradle of Filth) has her own solo project, too. http://www.myspace.com/jezebeldeva
OrbWeaver - Glad I could help with the prior suggestions for more powerful female vocalist. I'd be curious to hear what you think of them when you have a chance to check them out.

Love Angtoria! Their God Has a Plan is an excellent gothic metal album. I really like what I've heard of Sarah's new solo album. The new promo video for the album was posted on Blabbermouth the other day.

Looking back through this thread there are some great bands that I haven't listened to in a long long time. It's nice to remenisce and it's cool to check out bands that other people have suggested that I hadn't listened to!

Here's a couple of more to add to the list.

Angelzoom - Not metal but love the vocals. Very haunting and etherial. Love the songs Turn the Sky and Dream in A Church

Dismal Euphony - All Little Devils was a great release

Edenbridge - Power Metal from Austria

Lana Lane - Astrology Suite was a great piece and Lady MacBeth had some great songs on it.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Visions Of Atlantis from Austria. They were great when Nicole Bogner was on vocals.
