Festival Date is...

Grabbed a Residence reservation for the Thur-Sun $99 price. I was really planning on extending my trip this year to Wed-Mon but with the likelyhood of a new car being needed over this summer, best to not spend too much this year, me thinks. Think I might just take the week off from work and lounge around before heading to Atlanta.

Granada is usually party central because it's a block away from Earthlink Live, so if you don't want to stay up all night it might be better to stay elsewhere. I haven't stayed here but the rooms seem very nice and modern, though the building is rather old. You have less chance of upsetting other patrons because the majority of the place is booked up with PP attendees.

You forgot to mention that if you stay at the Grenada you have a chance to eat breakfast with Michael Håkansson of Evergrey (if they're playing that year), and that it something you MUST do once.

:headbang:

If you book your room through anybody beside the hotel chain iteself, make sure you call the hotel and get a confirmation number. It doesn't guarantee the room (as some of us learned last year), but it helps.

Those of you grabbing rooms at the Residence Inn. Are those singles for $99? And how are you booking them. Calling directly or using a service like expedia/etc.

I called directly to the hotel, got burned on the $159 rate, made the res. anyway, then called the hotel again early yesterday morning to change my dates and get the better rate. Another thing I do, is to call them every month or 2 and confirm my confirmation. I also call the a week before the fest, and the day I leave for GA. I haven't been screwed out of a room yet,
but we came REAL close to it at the Granada last year....

Booked a 2-BR suite at the Residence Inn, not long after Glenn posted the dates...alarm goes off, wake up, check site, call hotel, back to bed. :)

Let's hope that there are no......err...........weather-related entanglements.....this year. I'd rather not get booted up to Buckhead again. (Note that after all was said and done, I was not too upset with the hotel last year over this.)

Husband's brother scheduled his wedding for this weekend. We'd asked him, prior to PPVI, to do everything he could to avoid that weekend (in the off chance it was scheduled for the same weekend for the third year in a row!). He called us, while we were at PPVI, to tell us it would be a year to the day when his wedding would take place.

:p

(I'm likely going to PP anyway.)
Go anyway!!! My wedding anniversary is Sept. 14 and I go every year...w/o him. Last year was our 20th and he still didn't mind. And THAT'S why we've been married so long. :tickled: (BTW, your brother-in-law sounds like a jerk.)

I do the same thing...call, call, call. I was on a first name basis with one of the managers by the time I got there last year. It's the best way to deal with the Granada.

WE got a great deal at the Residence INN, and it is confirmed. Of course i had to use my corporate rate, but it is guaranteed, and it is less than what you get on-line or thru the hotel chain itself. So we(PYRAMAZE/NIGHTMARE STREET TEAM) will see all of you that are booked at the Residence. Don't be surprised if LANCE KING and the other members of PYRAMAZE are there walking the halls.

Was that the year he was carrying on over the hash browns? I remember him describing how he "loves the little brown potatoes, I don't know what they call them here..." (lol).

I hate Earthlink stairs :erk:

Oh don't get me started on those! Year after year I threaten to bring my mini Mag Lite with me. It will be with me this year for sure!

I promise not to shine the light on the people sitting down!!!!

I'm going to WorldCon this year. Not that I don't love you people, but there's *different* group of freaknerds that I need to spend a week with this time around. *g* (I missed PP III for them.)

Oh sure, something better comes along and we get tossed away like yesterday's newspaper (giggle).

I booked mine through Hotwire...and I did get to pick the hotel. In seperating out the cost of airfare (priced from Delta's site) I averaged $79.99 a night...don't ask me how it came out cheaper than last year, but I was happy it did.

Which hotel did you get for $79?????????? DAMN and i thought we had a good deal. Now i am getting my airline tickets. Cheapest i have found is $408 round trip, hoping i can get something cheapier. I shouldn't have given up all my American Airline frequent flier miles, but it went to a good cause(flying families of wounded AMERICAN service members to be with their HERO).

Yeah, I got the RI for the Thurs. - Sun. package @ $99. I also added Wednesday for $159. At least I'm planning on finally making it on Wednesday this time! :) If not, I'll cancel that night.

So far, so good! Can't wait to hear the rest of the announcements!

Residence Inn.... weird your airfare is higher than mine...not by much... L.A., CA. to Atlanta was 353. Got the package for 650 and decent flight times in and out. I should say however that I have to fly late Tues night to get in Wed. in the a.m. otherwise flights in early a.m. wed to get to GA by 5pm packages were $1062.

Thank you for doing that, was very kind and generous of you!
