Finally treated my room!

It looks like he has track lighting above the desk area, I'm going to assume he has dimmers wired to at least those, and possibly to the main lights in the rest of the room. Dim = the shit. I'm pretty sure it's just the flash of the camera, flash is gay...
 
don't install dimmers unless you've got good power conditioning. That shit will fuck you up. A rheostat is the proper way to dim studio lights. Expensive though.

Also doesn't the high frequency ringing from dimmed light bulbs drive you guys nuts?
 
I just hate overhead lighting, dim or otherwise! Or more generally I hate direct lighting; it's all about diffuse lighting for me (either from those tall lamps that cast their light upwards or regular lamps with lampshades, that's how all the lighting in every room of my house is!)

However, I can see myself sucking up overhead lighting when floorspace is an issue, e.g. in a studio! But I'd still much rather have those diffuse light boxes mounted on the walls like Andy has in his control room
