Firewire question.

I've already searched and googled this, but I can't seem to find a definitive answer so I'll ask here.

I'm thinking of buing a M-Audio Profire 2626 interface, but on my laptop I've only got a 4-pin 1394 firewire port. The 2626 has 6-pin port. Will it be okay to connect it to my laptop via a 6 to 4-pin cable?

Yep, the two extra pins in a 6-pin connection are just for bus-powering, so you're good! (though the firewire chipset on the motherboard might not be up to snuff, so in a worst case scenario you'd get dropouts and possibly some driver errors with all the functions of the unit)

Thanks. This would not be a problem with my main computer, but I'd like to be able to use my laptop when I leave my "studio" to record bands.
