So, I've been recording myself and others for about 2 years now, but I've been so ITB and low on equipment that I've never actually even bothered micing a real amp.

Today, I was bored and I decided it would be fun to mic up my Peavey Classic 50 with a capless SM58.
I was soooo suprised with how much easier it was to get a decent tone that fit a mix ok.

I figured it'd be interesting to share here. I literally just slapped the mic in a place that looked/sounded decent and did a super sloppy recording of Devin Townsend's Deadhead riff (I glanced at the tabs and improv'd what I didn't know).
I know the tone is a little boxy, but for what I was working with, I was stoked.
Again, everything is sloppy and rough, was just a tone test for myself, so don't judge the playing. :)
