Fusion

Like I said. I just must have some os Al's stuff that isn't that great. He's still good though... I only have "Kiss My Axe" among A hand full of MP3s...

My post was in accordance to the concert performance I saw in 79-80 with Paco, Al and John.( no disrespect I'm not writing out their names) Al and John said to the audience that Paco had just "owned" them between songs. This has nothing to do with the "song you put up" And saying, that "flamenco" is "all" Paco has "ever done" is incorrect. Please, in the future, THINK before you post. This is NOT an indictment of you, this is just a correction. Notice; once again, the concert I attended along with 3 thousand others "heard" what Dimeola and Mclaughlin said to de Lucia. It"s a completely different performance than the "song you put up." So your point is flawed. Nothing inflammatory.

My post was in reference to the performance I put up, now does ths mean I sould be telling you to "think before you post"? Any time you tell me what to do, its inflamatory and its something you seem to want to do alot. "I wouldnt allow that shit in my house" "what is wrong with you people" "dont address me again" " in the future" "THINK before you post." I mean come on... Who do you think you are... not imflamatory ? Im not being inflamatory, just something to think about. If thats not all Pacos done, well lets hear about it.

On many of those "trio" songs I feel they all exhibited great skill and I already stated Pacos got the right sound for that style and is no doubt a master of his thing. Must be every once in awhile Paco even out does himself ? I'm just not into that whole "ownage" thing(regardless of who says it), people are people and they all bring their own element to the table. Once someone unfimiliar hears the "ownage" thing they will disregard who ever it was that was supposedly "owned". If you can lead me to Paco playing fusion or even an electric guitar I would be pleased to find it. If you feel my statements about Pacos environment lending to his talent carry no weight, I'd like to hear about that as well. I've watched enough live stuff by these three now that I have seen them all stumble, even Paco. Theres one there somewhere of a TV broadcast that he definantly was having an off night, still good but not what I'd come to expect.

Paco played on the studio recording of Mediterranian Sundance, a song writtin by DiMeola with input from Paco, back in '77 -"Elegant Gypsy" a very good album as was Casino which followed.

I don't even know where to begin. I do know I'm not going to write a fuckin' "short story" post, which you do constantly. Very annoying. No matter what I say, you always try and find a way to circumvent everything I say. It doesn't matter man!! not to me anymore, and I'm sure not to you. You have a number of valid opinions and thoughts about music, but you also make many flawed statements(Too many to name) Younger people on this board may think that you have good points. AS said, that may be true to a degree, but as you and I are both "older", I know many times that you have been incorrect. This bullshit with you reminds me of the N.F.L. You know where a player will committ a foul, but only the person retaliating will be penalized. Go on and post your "short stories" just remember, some on here might buy into your theories. You and me will never see "eye to eye." Please, cut out some of the "fat" in your posts. All those uneccassary words are, well, fuckin' uneccassary. Thanx. Let it be. Let's move on.

yea, but you just wrote all that and didnt say a thing. Didnt back anything up, have not offered a responce to any questions or points I have posed this thread or others. That would have been a great place to start. I type fast and when I do write so much that apparently annoys the quippy, at least Im trying hard to explain stuff. I find it interesting I rarely get any back up from counter points, just the oh contrair statement. Im always ready to learn something when its explained and valid. Thanks for the productive input... :heh:

Im actually a very good natured guy but stand my ground firmly on my determinations. Im well aware that this is not always a popular stance unless it goes with the status quo.

I love talking about music and am always ready for deep conservation, the shallow stuff doenst interest me, same as the music.

Please! you guys are scaring the emo-core kids...they're confused, and starting to cry....uh...again.

I actually bought Night in San Francisco a few weeks ago after hearing Mediteranean Sundance. The Virtuosity on that album is freakish. Amazing stuff.

Any Trio of Doom fans (John McLaughlin, Tony Williams, and Jaco Pastorius)? Got their live CD with Night in San Francisco actually, which might be their only CD. Pretty origonal stuff.

Anyone here ever heard MVP's (Mark Varney Progect) "Centrifugal Funk"?? This is amazing Fusion with tons of great soloing. It features Brett Garsed, Shawn Lane, & Frank Gambale on guitar, as well as some sickening bass playing. It's all covers of Jazz/Fusion standards, but done like you wouldn't believe.

Everyone should buy the two albums by Gary Willis Band, Bent and No Sweat. It's some of the coolest fusion I've heard, less about cheesy noodling and more about crazy warped grooves. Much better than Tribal Tech imo. Just keyboards, sax, bass and drums. Dennis Chambers and Gary Willis are a fucking mind blowing rhythm section partnership.

Dennis Chambers rings a bell but not Gary Willis, will check out, Im all about the groove.

I have no idea how people can keep up with all this stuff, too much money, I spent a few thousand on equipment this year but only around 150 on music, which doesnt take long... either way :erk:

I found some decent quality 30 second samples here. The only song I don't like is "It's only music" which sticks out like a sore thumb imo. The rest is warped jazz/funk groove awesomeness.
