Heh. I remember that 'epic' quest, and that smuggler cave. Shoulda taught (sp) you to read all those huge text blocks that invade your screen from time to time, and also to save often.
Yeah, it did...after the 3rd time. The learning curve was steep but short, and once you got over it it was amazing...

I really like Morrowind though, it's one of few RPGs I've played that actually is an RPG.
Indeed - there's as much room for roleplaying as you want, although if you don't want to, you don't have to.

Was that directed at me or Ender? Not only do the expansions add great new quests, they are also required for many of the great mods out there. I'm currently playing with between 30-50 mods installed.

Yeah, at Ender.
The Runestone mod is invaluable. Also, I found a cool one that adds more buildings and stuff to the 50 or so small towns and adds shit to the outskirts of the major cities, basically making everything more realistic in size.

I will have to do that, WAIF.

Cherko: The three laws of RPGs. Talk to everyone and read everything. Save often. Go everywhere.
Yes.
And also, yes, yes, and yes. Play 10 minutes of FFX and these will be ingrained in your mind forever.

You're telling this to the wrong person. I feel insulted... And, you'll never be able to explore all of Morrowind. Never. Ever.
Well, you said it's one of the few RPGs you've played that was a real RPG. Sorry.
Yes.

FFX was bad ass. My first real FF experience.

He meant as in it actually lets you Role Play, rather than being a game with stats and shit; Diablo 2 is not an rpg; you pick 1 of 5 classes and kill shit. No options about what to kill or what to say, just killing.

Yeah, at Ender.

I've actually heard of neither of these mods. Tell me more about what this Runestone mod does.

Yes.

The Final Fantasy series are not RPG games in my opinion. I've only played FFI-VIII, but, VII and VIII were rather interactive cinematics than games. I still liked VII though.

Yeah, I did, but Morrowind really is one of the few RPGs where I actually feel like I'm Playing a Role. Just read my 'essay' on the life of the dunmer pickpocket Leopold Tuborg and you'll see what I mean. It was a life, and a career, that I chose. Well, except for the being-a-prisoner part.

ah...sorry, can't find it, but poke around on that site - good site for mods.

It is kinda cheating, but I started using it when my character was high level and had lots of cash already, so it wasn't like I couldn't have gotten there if I'd wanted to spend more time traveling.

From where do you think I got my 30-50 mods, huh?

I might use that Runestone mod though. I've been über rich and powerful before, but Vista killed my savefiles in a freak accident. Don't ask how, there is no logical explanation. Might use a little boost.

No.
Pros:
Better graphics, obviously. Fewer rough edges. Everything's voice acted. Quests are generally more complex. NPCs move around more. Architecture is slightly more varied. Physics are awesome. You can move stuff around, and there's more stuff to move. Vampiracy is cooler. Werewolves are out. Combat is better due to (slightly) more skill being required.

Cons:
Lack of Morrowind's awesome atmosphere
Too short; 120 quests at most
AI not all it's cracked up to be
Crossbows, throwing stars, spears, and staffs are out. Not that I ever used those, but it was cool they were there.
Fewer pieces of armor - leggings, boots, torso, and gloves, and boots and gloves come in pairs rather than individually.
Simplified stats (lame)
Not feeling like you ever become badass due to leveled difficulty
NPC conversations often become ridiculous

Still, a fantastic game that you should totally check out.

I prefer the combat system in Oblivion in of Morrowind's BY FAR. Definitely could have used the armor system Morrowind had though.

Just grab Mart's Monster Mod though, and Quarls Texture pack; both are fucking magnificent (WARNING: must have a beefy computer to run both at full specs).

Oblivion has so many mods out there it could easily be as large as morrowind. Some of those additional quests and dungeons are bitches.

That's how I felt. Except once you understood the combat, it was really easy...block, block, hit. block block hit.

This is true. But with mods for morrowind it can become so fucking massive you wouldn't believe it.
