I think that the guitar tone's on "The Gathering" are probably some of the most heavy, brutal tones I've heard in a long time. You guys and Sneap did an amazing job on that album. My question involves what gear was used...
My assumptions were that the songs were in C# and that the rhythm tracks were done with a Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier (3 Channel) into a Mesa Recto 4X12 Cab? I think the guitars had either an EMG 81 or EMG 85 perhaps? In traditional Sneap fashion, I'm gonna assume there was 4 tracks of rhythm on there.
So now my other questions...if you're running 4 tracks of rhythm like that with a Mesa Triple Recto, surely you must back off the gain some in order to avoid having the tone get too mushy, wouldn't you? I'm just curious as to what sort of setting you would use for something like that?
