Georges St. Pierre

I unfortunately missed it, but FWIH it was almost standup fighting all the way, so nothing boring IMO.

GSP is the shit, MONTREAL REPRESENT YO

So happy to see Koscheck get his ass kicked. He didn't do anything in that entire fight except his one takedown in the first round.

The big question is, who is actually going to be competition for GSP and when? I'd hate to see him turn into Anderson Silva.

I guess. Although gsp is incredibly boring to watch. Just like most wrestlers.

dude has totally taken this sentiment from the fans into consideration, too, which is probably partly the reason he kept the fight standing the whole time

after 4-5 fights of straight ground and pound, dude spent 5 rounds throwing jabs, hooks, and leg kicks, and kos had absolutely no answer for the speed of his strikes

IMO, you answered your own question right there. i know dana white has been reluctant to do so, but i think that if anderson silva beats vitor belfort, the UFC is at the point that they have to book a silva/GSP fight. not only would it draw massive fan interest and end up being the single biggest fight in the sport's history, but there's just no one else for either of them to beat in their divisions. sonnen might still be considered worthy of a rematch due to the reduction in his suspension, but beyond him, there isn't a single fighter in either division who can even compete on an even level with either of the respective champs.

edit: white said last night after the fight that jake shields is the #1 contender, so i guess we can expect shields v. GSP next =/

Yeah the shields GSP fight will be a good one I think. But there has also been alot of hype around gsp moving up a weight class, but he has been talking about it for the last few years so not sure if it will actually happen.

I would love to see a GSP/Silva fight but I find it really unlikely. Dana has said int he past that he thinks GSP is too small to fight silva. HOWEVER, I don't think it's only a matter of time before GSP goes to 185.

Gsp cuts from over 200 to make 170. Size shouldn't be an issue at 185. I have a feeling gsp would get up over the spider.

he said in an interview before this fight that he walks around now at 186-188, and is trying to add muscle weight to 200

he also said that he doesn't want to flip-flop weight classes, and that he won't consider moving up until he gets close to the size of the middleweights he trains with, who he said are 205-210

but you never know...maybe when the entire welterweight division is populated with dudes who all have multiple losses to GSP, a boatload of cash may sway him into a silva fight whether he feels 100% ready to move up or not. silva has also made mention of going down to 170, but i don't see him having a chance if manages to make that cut.

Silva would destroy GSP.....

+1

Silva would destroy GSP. Reach alone would be enough for silva to pick him apart. I do think it would be an amazing fight though.

However, I think it's more likely Silva will retire before GSP gets up there. He wanted to retire at 35, but has had a few fights since then. I expect 2011 is the last year Silva will fight in the UFC, unless he's signed a new contract I'm not aware of.....

Hmm if Chael got him on his back for 5 rounds im sure Georges speed would outmatch Silva. George would also have gotten out of that triangle choke Chael got caught on. Close one, id have to say, Silva could take it on the feet but George would take it on the ground.

Rly guys? If we are counting the last fight from Silva and the last fight from GSP then it's obvious that GSP would win 90%!

GSP has no chance against Silva and Dana knows this. Thats why hes trying to put everyone he can in front of GSP before he fights Silva. GSP is a crowd fave and cash cow. If he loses to Silva his career is over cause Silva will tear him to pieces.

GSP doesn't have anything but speed to match up with Silva's perfection in the ring. Pound for Pound Silva is the BEST fighter in MMA. Hes got power, reach, probably the hardest and most brutal leg kicks I have ever seen in the UFC. GSP wouldn't want to take this fight to the ground cause he is no match for the superior Jiu-Jitsu of Silva. He doesn't want to keep it standing cause Silva will leg kick him till he cant walk any more then just take it to the ground anyway.

GSP I do feel is a bit faster then Silva. He has that "quickness off the line" that Silva doest have, but I don't think that alone can stop Silva.
