Uhmmm too many german metal bands to list, but some that haven't been mentioned are Lacrimosa, Helloween, Sopor Aeternus and the Ensemble of Shadows, and obviously The Scorpions , All of these bands rulez IMO

In Extremo do "Medieval Metal". The newer stuff is quite modern and not that popular. rightly so.
Their best albums are probably "Sünder ohne Zügel" and "Verehrt und Angespien".

rammpeth: If you like the lyrics of In Extremo you should know that almost every one is inspired by Francois Villon, a French poet of the 15th (?) century. His poems are just great. He was the first to write pornographic litterature in Middle Europe

karps: theyre basically a rock/pop/happy metal group with medieval instruments,,its hard to say why i like them so much....i guess in a way it is because theyre music is much much easier to digest when youre not in the mood for complex and intricate music.however thats not to say that their music is bad or that their bad musicians,,but its just a different genre!
my favorite cds are : Mein Rasend Herz, Sonder Ohne Zügel and the acoustic one which i dont remember the name (its something like Die Verückten sind im Stadt )

The Album is called "Die Verrückten sind in der Stadt" which means "The loonies are in town".

What I don't like in In Extremo is that they don't care about the pronunciation of other languages and just sing. Songs like "Herr Mannelig" or "Como Poden" sound terrible... :zombie:

karpsmom: then you'd probably like J.B.O., too. They are mostly a cover band and change the lyrics into something funny. Even if I did not understand German at all I would find them funny.

And Quebec kicks butts too, Rimouski, a small town along the st-laurent river, has been called the capital of death metal for a few years now. And pretty much every single band that comes to Montreal or Quebec City is like "WTF HAVE THOSE GUYS BEEN METAL-STARVED FOR 20 YEARS??" One good way to present this is that Rhapsody, the first time they came to Montreal, and the only time as of yet, they recorded their first live album
