Nocturno is great on Panzerfaust, the hell is wrong with his vocals?

They're way too high in the mix. Waaaayyy to high. This cant be the first time you're hearing someone say that about the album...

Good album, but the vocals being so up front almost ruins it though ... almost. And that's a rare complaint coming from me.

Panzerfaust is pretty bland, but not as bland as Written in Waters.

i know you've criticised it in the past but you gave written in waters the same RYM rating as everything from 4 down on your list lol, is this you doing your usual thing of exaggerating your dislike for something you consider unjustly popular?

It's more a result of me not updating all of my ratings immediately, particularly for albums that literally put me to sleep (not joking, I've dozed off twice listening to it). I'd give it a weak 3/moderate 2.5 now. It's pretty and all, but basically a clone of Blind Idiot God and other 80s noise rock mixed with very bland black metal, with some enjoyable wanky drumming. Great sound, but the songs are totally forgettable.

Yeah I've listened to it a couple times and came to the same conclusion, but still remember enjoying the album quite a bit on the whole.

EDIT: Oh I just realized the relevance of the question, forgot that it was released in 1995 and didn't recognize the name when I read your initial post, lol. Funny thing is I could actually imagine it being #11 as well on my list, though I haven't really listened to it enough.

Love the vocals on Panzerfaust. Absolutely blunt and in your face. It gives the album a visceral and vicious dimension that distinguishes it from the abstractionism of Transilvanian Hunger.
